Roma Fedorov - interview - cycling in Thailand
VH - Where are you from?
Roma - From Israel, but originally from Russia
VH - How old are you?
Roma - 26
VH - What have you been working with?
Roma - Bike messenger, crazy Job
VH - And now you work mainly with blogposting on steemit right?
Roma - Correct and dtube
VH - And you where in the army right?
Roma - Yes i served at The border of Jordan, as a driver
VH - When did you start cycling
Roma - March 2016, but i was riding bmx previously a lot as a kid.
VH - And how is cycling in Israel
Roma - Traffic is crazy and very busy
VH - And you told me once that if you go mountain biking and get into the wrong villages they will throw rocks at you right?
VH - When did you first go to Thailand?
Roma - February
VH - And how did you like it there?
Roma - At first i was a bit shocked, but then i start to get used to it and it turned to be an amazing place.
- I really like the Thai food, Especially Khao Soi soup.
- The weather can sometime suck, I mean it can rain for few months on almost a daily basis. But it's alright.
- Thai culture is one of the friendliest culture that i've ever met.
- But i got to say that i was mostly living in chiang mai in thailand and i know that the south part of thailand is a bit
different. But i guess there won't be a lot of difference..
VH - Yeah i love it. I have been in the south and its very friendly as well.
- One thing to mention is that when u first arrived you came in the middle of the burning season aswell wich is the
worst time to come. For the readers, Chiang Mai is best avoided mid February to mid May cause of smokey season.
VH - what do you like about cycling in Thailand?
Roma - 1. the traffic is friendly
2. smooth roads
3. almost everywhere you can find vegan food
4. weather is amazing
5. super steep mountains, to keep me challenged
6. a lot of cyclists
VH - Agreed, i love all those things aswell, food and steep mountains everywhere.
VH - Do you have any favorite climb in Thailand?
Roma - That's tough but i think Doi ang khang takes it in views
VH - Yes doi angkhang is very steep and beautiful views.
And you ride extreme rides now right, with your special touring/gravel bike, you ride everywhere.
VH - Do you camp aswell?
Roma - I did once but it was a mess with mosquitos.
VH - haha, yes i tried once aswell, in a hammock, but did not sleep anything, i had some dogs come barking aswell.
Roma- yes i had some spiders coming intoo my tent
VH - Hehe, yeah it can be interesting.
VH - That was the interview, any last words?
Roma - cycling is the best tool for me to feel free and get out of the comfort zone, I always feel so alive when i'm riding a really long adventure.
I dont really think about anything rather than pedaling my bike.
I like to get lost with my bike sometimes, I had days with the bike that i'll never forget and that is mainly why i'm cycling.
I'm not really trying to get fit, I just love to go out there and explore new roads.
VH - Thats a nice ending to the interview and i think most cyclist can relate to that.
