RE: Tubeless or not Tubeless, is it a question?!

in #cycling6 years ago

I've kind of had it with tubeless, too much of a hassle to maintain and setup. Have you ever had to put a tube in on the trail? It's a mess...

Plus the saying 'you can run lower pressure' is BS. Try going 15-20 mph on a turn with low tire pressure, it will 'fold' or roll on your rim so you have less control. You have tire 'squirm'.

Have you ever seen those FedEx mail envelopes that are made from Tyvek? I used to line the inside of the tire with that stuff to prevent flats. We don't have too many thorns around here, but did it after reading the tip years ago.

Well, if you have a choice, then that is great... Where we ride, we would have a flat tire after every 10 minutes. I'll look into that envelope, not sure if we have them here...

This is what they look like, I'm sure you have them as FedEx is a worldwide shipper. It's not 100% by any means, but much better than running nothing at all, plus it's very light compared to a thick liner.
I've purchased tires that have a kevlar lining, not sure if they make those for mtb tires.

Thanks, yes have seen them, will have a look....
