Protonmail Secure Encrypted Web Email - Introduction and Tutorial Video
Protonmail is an easy to use secure email service with built-in end-to-end encryption and state of the art security features.
Here is a video introduction and walk through of setting up a Protonmail account:
Below is a link to protonmail to go set up your own account. I highly recommend setting up one of these accounts especially if you are using email through a service provided by a provider like Apple, Google or Yahoo. These services are all monitored regularly by the NSA and shared with all the intelligence agencies and anything you are sending or receiving through them is part of your surveillance profile. It is not very hard any more to change that, spend a few minutes upgrading your privacy.

Thank you for the great information.
Glad to see a few people moving over to a better way to do email.
Thanks for the review. I already have a Protonmail account, but haven't used it as yet.
I am still using gmail by far more than anything else, but I am moving all my actual personal communication to Protonmail, and starting to move over to it a little at a time. I use a complex set of gmail accounts for business and have been using them forever, so I doubt I will ever stop using it all together, but I certainly have been looking for more private and respectful alternatives. Every chance I get I move a set of email tasks away from gmail and over to protonmail if I think keeping that data private would be nice.
Just checked it out. I'm moving over. Thanks for the post.
Cool good to hear it, there is no reason to use the other free email services when there is one that respects your security and privacy.
Do you have any suggestions for any good offsite Steem wallets? I found cold storage @xeroc but no luck with a wallet.
Yeah I signed up for it last week .
Also Opera now includes a free unlimited VPN with encryption, also a proxy to mask IP and location
Of course your particular use case may vary, but I use TOR and Orbot if I am trying to mask IP location or a dedicated VPN. The way Opera is doing that through just a couple of their own servers in a couple of locations would make it trivial for anyone who had access to their servers to provide a trail leading back to you, that browser company and VPN service is owned by a private company. Even someone who did not have their cooperation but had access to nearby routers could work out where you came from. If you are just trying to hide your location from a website you are trying to visit to watch videos or something no problem, but if you are actually trying to keep your IP private this is not the best method and this kind of proxy is actually leaking a lot more data about you than it is hiding.
What opera is offering is not really a VPN, it is a proxy with a lot of marketing hype, and they are an ad distribution network which is offering that service in order to catalog your usage data for marketing purposes, and anyone who is doing that is creating a record of who you are where you came from and what you are looking at, which is usually what you are trying to avoid by using a VPN.
