Please read the newly published Curie Whitepaper to get full understanding of the inner workings of Curie.

I serve as a curator for this esteemed meritocratic curation community on the Steem blockchain. Every day of the week I scout Steem, with the direction of Curie guidelines (that can be found in the general channel of her Discord server), for the best undervalued authors to help them receive buoyant rewards and their contents good visibility. In this series of posts I publish my comments trying to make a case before the reviewers why an author and post ought to be considered for curation. Sit back and enjoy this week's. I hope too to point creators to what our community curation looks out for, with these thoughts shared in an anthology.

Steemit Open Mic - Week 68: Novocain (Original Song)

@stanhopeofficial's "Novocain" is the kind of song that would stick to your memory all week. I still hum its melody seven days after I got in contact with it. The performance is brilliant, the song is a gem, illustrating some vocal acrobatic and a good show on the guitar. Worth the listen. Hey, Charles! I hope you had a good time in Mexico ;-)

My Curator Comment

“"Novocain" is simply beautiful, and would sit comfortably among the best openmic entries of all time on Steem. I did a bit of scrolling and this author already received 4 big curie votes and 3 small ones in the past. But I would argue that Charles has been really persistent and hasn't had any success recently. Moreover, the last big curie upvote was in far away October. For the sheer quality of this one, I make bold to submit and solicit that this one be rewarded by curie. Quality of sound and video are beautiful, and exhibit an obvious investment and commitment from the author. The kind that would look good on a professional blog. And, you can't ignore the obvious talent of this performer. I dare say that this one is exceptional. Let's help get Stan to Mexico ;-)”

Avenged Sevenfold Albums Ranked/Review

It's a fan piece and it is beautiful. Flow (@iamflow) dissects the music of Avenged Sevenfold over a career decade-and-a-half with some serious opinions on an almost exhaustive discography. Fun read, if you missed it.

My Curator Comment

“If I read that on "Rollingstone" I won't think for once it is out of place. Clearly the opinion of the author, and it employs decent knowledge of the band from an ardent fan's POV. Just why the author chose block text all round is what I don't understand. But I believe the formatting takes nothing from what I adjudge a beautiful piece. I hope you agree.”

The Dog, A Real Life Horror Story

This is clearly my favourite for the week. What if a dog you loved so much came home with rabies and you tried to kill him as peacefully as you could think of, but for some reason he won't die till he has suffered to a point that your heart took some beating? What if it is not fiction? This is a true life event that's haunted @demonsthenes's memory from childhood. This one made me sad and hurt and empathetic all within a few minutes. I must warn, there is a lot of crimson!

My Curator Comment

“Author may not exactly qualify for persistent but this is one really beautiful piece that I feel confident about for its sheer quality. Quite ugly event, but the silver lining is the narration prowess of the author. I particularly loved where POV was switched and texts turned italic. Quite the kind that would raise discussions if it got some more exposure. Nice stuff ;-)”

Some Considerations For Driving After An Amputation

Control, acceleration, braking, onboarding, and everything ergonomic. This author delves in with extensive insight into the available technologies that can make driving a doable task, again, for someone who had an amputation. Go read @eetyyudeme's blog to find out even more.

My Curator Comment

“I just got back from my brief hiatus and I am diving in head first with this insightful article on useful technologies that can enhance an amputee on the steering wheels. Started a bit slowly but gathered pace as the article matured. This shows extensive knowledge and educated me on the further possibilities provided by technology. I think this author is doing pretty convincingly trying to churn out general consumable content from a niched industry that is orthopaedic technology. I would argue that the previous curie upvote of a forthnight ago was rather too minuscule as a major vote trail didn't activate for technical reasons that's not the doing of the author. Here's me again trying to make a case for this author receiving an upvote for what I would consider very very unique topic coverage for Steem. I hope you agree ;-)”

BROKEN PIXELS ON A PIC: AN EXPERIMENTAL TRAGEDY

It's not everyday you come across a crime thriller with the POV of the villain (well except in a story without any obvious hero). @warpedpoetic's story is set in Nigeria and features some serious drama with accentuation of an obvious poetic rhythm. Beautiful stuff.

My Curator Comment

“Here's it! I've had this one on my browser for a good ten hours, and for some reason I really can't feel bold to discard it. Author is new and post is really good: it explores a fresh niche trying to fuse poetry into prose. Apart from the poem-formatted prologues, the whole tone of the piece seems to have a flow and music to it. And I love it for that. Author is fresh, only got a 2% @curie community vote in the past. But I only wish the whole stuff was compressed to about 70% the length of this entire peice. I tend to feel it is a bit long for an average reader. I timed myself as I read this. 12 minutes. The other part of me feels that's okay. It's not everyday we find a crime thriller told from the POV of the bad guy, so for that I would solicit this one gets a chance.”

Fatigued By Flat Fiction? Focus On The Feel.

Too many times I come across fiction that won't let me stay welcome past the first paragraph. Too many times I wish writers of fiction took advantage of the huge resource repository that is available on Steem for fiction writers. @rasgriz311 just added to that pile with this handy help kit. It discusses everything from character to length and use of images. Really useful one that I felt should get more eyes.

My Curator Comment

“Useful one to have, for fiction writers and curators of fiction, methink. Persistent author, never got any curie vote in the past. I love this one and I would use it as material for my content creation workshop for new Steemians.”

That sums my anthology for this week. I proposed an overall 7 posts for curation the past week and the jury weighed in our favour 100% of the time. Remember to support Curie by voting her witness bid and following her voting trails on Streamian and SteemAuto. Feel free to show some love to the featured authors by voting on their posts where they haven't paid out, and following them.

Do have a bright week ahead, and keep steeming.

Cheers!

Announcement!!! I am open to mentoring prospective curators for recommendation to become Curie curators. Before you apply, please do well to join the Curie Discord server (linked above) and read the guidelines pinned to the "general" channel... along with the whitepaper. Have a decent understanding of those and then comment your interest here. Peace.

Hi - this is a great post for gaining an insight into how curie works (as to the standards) - I've read through the general process on discord but I didn't realise you had to write such detailed justifications - I should've guessed I suppose.

I've benefitted from @curie a few times and have been looking for a way to get involved as a curator to give something back- it's a great initiative and it'd be great to get a recommondenation.

I'll hopefully catch you in discord sometime.

Thanks for the insightful post!

The "proposer comment" is an optional feature on the submission form that can be put to real good use, as is the case in these submissions showcased. It could help a reviewer see something that wasn't obvious, and would have otherwise been missed. And, it'll be great to help you bed into the awesome curation community that curie has become. I have been following your blog from the introduction post and trust me I think you would make a great curator. See you in Discord ;-)

Hey thanks for the kind words - I've been enjoying engaging with people on here since I 're-started' at Christmas - be great to expand and focus on 'connecting downwards' (at the risk of sounding patronising) - it's so crucial for moving this platform forwards.

I consider it an honor to have work featured here. I'm hopeful that my advice will be useful by creating much better writers than myself. Steemit is the perfect place to grow a vibrant community of fiction readers and writers, so I think we'll see many more entertaining stories appear.

Boss I need mentoring badly.. Working on something now..

Thank you for having my story The Dog, A real Life Horror Story, featured here. I am honored by your comments and the support that has been shown to me since I got here. Again thanks to everyone here.

Good post brother, i like it 👍👍👍

Great week with some good finds there. Lets hope next week has as much good content.

OMG, thank you sooo much. I really appreciate the mention. I did work a while on that. I wrote a blog entry similar to this one yesterday. It was on Linkin Park if anyone is interested in checking it out. Love you, man <3

I am becoming really addicted to this weekly thing. It makes me keep abreast of really wonderful, interesting posts. I mean, the posts listed here are out of this world.

Nice helpful analysis you've got here boss.

I will work on the length next time. Lol. Thank you for the love. I am still experimenting and interacting. Thank you for the kind words. Peace
