Application for Steemit Community Curators - November 2024
Hello, Steemit Team and fellow Steemians. Today, I am writing to apply for the position of Steem Curator for the month of November. I would also like this to serve as a mini-update to our curation project, which has logged over 900 blog posts and 350+ comments over the last six weeks. That includes a jump in overall content from September to October, along with a bigger profile, going from @steemcurator09 to @steemcurator07.
Beyond normal policies set by the Steemit Team, our mission goals have stayed the same since day 1: Maximize the voting power of the curator profile we’re controlling while searching out eligible content that, for the most part, isn’t being rewarded. In the process, we’ve also found that several users are more than deserving of being voted on more than once each week, even though we try to avoid doing it. We try to space out our rewards based on the overall structure of articles, information, and delivery.
One thing we started in October has been to reward all newcomers in the Newcomers’ Community. While the reward is not astronomical, it is something in return for the users’ first words on Steemit. The idea came after @httr4life said to me, “How would Steemit have been for you if your first post had actually had a payout (which mine did not)?” It grew from there, and now we are trying to make a point of welcoming all newbies.
In first curator application back in September, I went over several qualifications we, as a team, had that would make us strong candidates, including the ability to communicate in multiple languages. Since that time, we’ve learned that, via the use of a translator, we can, for the most part, connect with just about everyone. Even though translation leads to confusion on some occasions, the experience has been a memorable one as we’ve seen the ins and outs of several cultures we never even knew existed and connected with some of those individuals on a personal level.
We'd like to add that, repeating something below from October's application, our thoughts on this have not changed one bit.
One of our key stances is, “Comments are the lifeblood of any social website. Without them, you have nothing but a soulless echo chamber.” As a team, we’ve made it a point to reward comments as well as posts and will continue to do so. This can only help the site as new users want to feel welcome. If there is no greeting in the comment section, they’ll likely feel unseen.
It’s important to remember that having comments under an article is crucial to social development, but unnatural comments are almost as bad as not commenting at all. This process might be the biggest language barrier on the blockchain in terms of how different languages translate with slang, sayings, etc. We stay committed to rewarding comments as long as the Steemit Team continues to select us for this role.
- @httr4life owns two communities: American Steem and The World of Sports. @philhughes owns the 'My Mind is on Music' community.
- We are currently trying to help build a stronger American contingency on this platform. He runs the communities; I'm just trying to help add content at this point, as there isn't much else to do in a new community. I believe I am officially listed as a mod, but I WILL VACATE THAT TITLE IF NECESSARY...was done because I was the only person in the group at the time.
As stated above, we’re committed to building a stronger American presence (we have a long way to go) while also connecting with the world on Steemit through the American Steem, World of Sports, and the recently formed My Mind is on Music communities. While these communities are still in their infant stages, our efforts to generate quality content and attract users from all walks of life already have a strong foothold.
As we move forward, we’re committed to expanding these spaces and contributing more valuable content that will appeal to an audience that spans across borders. We’re also committed to helping others build new communities through the curation process or any other possible way if given a chance to extend our project into November.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and the opportunity you've given us, first as Team 7 in September and then as Team 5 in October. We’ve enjoyed this process and hope to continue.

Hi @philhughes and @httr4life, I am glad to see that you continue your active contribution into the Steemit life. Seeing how you did work for the last 2 months it is almost not possible to imagine curation team without American team. Wishing you success and hope you will continue curation work!
Thank you, @stef1. I've enjoyed the last couple of months since joining the site and only hope I've added something along the way.
