May 30th -- Steemit Ramble #159 -- Curating Great Posts for You
Well summer is definitely arriving here in the so called cold white north. The days are getting hot and the nights a bit cool. I’m doing my best to hold off firing up the air conditioning. Really don’t want to spend the hydro.
I have to head out today to one of the advanced polls if I’m going to vote in the Provincial election which takes place on June 7th. It falls on a Thursday which means I’ll be doing Pimp Your Post Thursday and can’t be sure I’ll get away to vote then.

Writing Workshops 101
Many people who would like to improve their writing craft shy away from the peer review offered at The Writers’ Block out of fear their work will get ripped to shreds. It’s a reasonable fear in the sense that some really good writers are at TWB. It’s also unreasonable because it’s good writers you want reviewing your work if you’re going to grow.
@damianjayclay gives an excellent overview of the review process both from the perspective of the writer receiving a review and pointers for the writer giving a review. Peer review is a two way street.
Steem Wars Episode 2: The Farce Awakens
Do you enjoy writing sci-fi? Did you know a community wide initiative is on where you can write some sci-fi and have some fun? The Writers’ Block has created Steem Wars for everyone to take part in.
@gmuxx shares the latest of what is happening in the Steem Wars. It’s not too late, anyone can join in and have some fun. If you’d like to see what has already been published as part of the fun, visit Steem Wars on Steemshelves
My Witness Application by 👨🏼💻 @c0ff33a ☕️
A bundle of energy and strong supporter of the platform, @c0ff33a, has announced that he’s setup a witness. An excellent addition to the witness lineup. He’s asked if you have a spare vote available (out of the 30 you are alloted), to please consider him. I’m going to suggest if you have a witness you’ve voted for and don’t feel strongly about, replace that with @c0ff33a.
Art Contest Results and Writing Contest #12
The art prompt has been chosen and the next writing contest for The Writers’ Block is getting underway. My first impression of the prompt is we’re going to see some mystery type entries coming from this one. Have a look and consider entering.
Money And Success
This post was nominated by @seyiodus who said: “This post shows the relationship between success and money. It's interesting.”
@orracle puts forth his views on the question, “Do you think it’s possible to say that someone is successful if they do not have money?”. His take is money has to be one of the elements of success. Agree? Disagree?
How Persistence Got Me Through College
This post was nominated by @rogerine who said: “I would like to nominate this post from blockurater. I think and I believed that his story is something that many can learned from and that at time we all need to strive for our dreams to come true. We can emulate the principles behind it based on one's current siutation.”
I think that is an excellent summation. Nice work.
"DERP," Goes Southwest Virginia
This post was nominated by battleaxe who said: “nominating @rhondak post that is edgy...it needs to be! This post got me riled up in a good way to spread the word of what rescuers deal with. Very thought provoking piece IMHO.”
This scenario would almost be funny if it wasn’t so totally serious. The expectations of people who choose not to get what is going on always astounds me.
Deliciously Black "Pancit Pusit (Squid Noodles)"
This post was nominated by @artemisnorth who said: “@watersnake101's post is pure quality from his writing and photos to the fresh ingredients he uses in this traditional Philippine dish. This entry in the #whatscookingchallenge taught this seafood newbie everything I need to know to handle and prepare fresh squid. @watersnake101 cooks his dish outdoors, in a hand pounded pan that belonged to his grandfather, over small fire. Call me IMPRESSED @watersnake101.”
Nature Photography with @Ma1neEvent - Helping out a little Bird!
@ma1neevent shares some great pics of a bird that he anxiously kept an eye on as it got its bearings again after being grounded during a downpour. Great shots of the unidentified bird. Anyone know what kind it is?
Tried and Tested: Dehydrating Banana and Lemon - Does It Work?
@littlenewthings tackles dehydrating some banana and lemon slices with mixed success. The lemon slices caught my attention for sure as I often start my day with warm water and lemon. I may yet decide to give a dehydrator a go. Coming into summer and the growing season, might be a good time to stock up.
About the Steemit Ramble
The Steemit Ramble is a manual curation project written by @shadowspub since August 2016. She scours the blockchain to locate and share the best posts so you don't have to. Every day many quality posts disappear on the blockchain leaving their authors frustrated they aren't seen and readers just as frustrated trying to find them. This curation project brings readers and authors together.
How You Can Participate?
As hard as she works, @shadowspub doesn't find all the best. You, as a reader, will find posts that have been missed and really should be seen. You can take a part in bringing these posts to light and earn a share of the post they are published in.
The Steemit Ramble has it's own discord called, Steemit Ramble. Here you can nominate posts you've found and think belong in the Ramble.
How to Nominate a Post
- Read How I Manually Curate to give you an idea of what I'm looking for in a post. This covers the formatting, the quality of the writing is just as important.
- When you find a post visit the Ramble discord and submit it to the #nominate-someones-post channel by writing a short nomination
It's that easy. I review each submission. Those I select will receive credit for the nomination, their nomination will be part of the entry in the Ramble and they will receive a portion of the SBD earned when the post pays out.
Supporting the Steemit Ramble Curation Project
In addition to reading and upvoting the Steemit Ramble, you can support the project and the authors featured in it by:
Delegating even as much as 25 SP to @steemitramble -- this will increase the voting power of the account when it votes on those curated. Delegating is like loaning me some of your Steem Power so I can vote on others posts with a larger vote.
Join the curation trail on SteemAuto and then join the curation trail. The trail is called Steemit Ramble
Pimp Your Post Thursday
Don’t forget, Pimp Your Post Thursday takes place every Thursday at 11am and 7:00pm EDT on the Steemit Ramble Discord. Come and join the fun promoting your posts and getting to know others.
Aww Shadows, thanks so much for including my post.
Thanks for futuring my post.
Thank you for the showcase. The support is very much appreciated. Thank you to @artemisnorth for taking time to check and nominate my work. Cheers!
PYPT at the Ramble = my favorite addiction.
You said this about my post: "This scenario would almost be funny if it wasn’t so totally serious." No truer words have ever been spoken.
