Can somebody who curates content be a thought leader? A content curator by the method is somebody or an organization that discovers, organizes, and shares relevant content on a subject, sector or theme.

I've always maintained that content curation does not equate to thought leadership (TL).

Why? As a result of to be a TL necessitates generating original, new content or insights that address your markets' problems or challenges. By doing this you show your depth knowledge on a subject or a sector and become the head.

After some sensible banter on one to two websites concerning whether or not content curation will cause you to a thought leader, I like to share 2 observations on the subject.

Curated content is great support to thought leadership

The first is that curated content will play an awfully necessary role in supporting and informing a TL content program. For example, curated content feeds measure great way with trends which might inform your TL topics and therein sense facilitate with the content calendar.

The clue on behalf of me lies in a very definition on a content curation website referred to as Hivefire. They outline TL and content curation as:

"Thought Leadership - a primary good thing about content curation. Thought leadership standing is gained once your brand is recognized, and cited, as associate degree knowledgeable on crucial industrial problems. Making a homogenous stream of industry-relevant content may be a key tactic supporting a thought leadership objective."

New ideas driven by curated content might be thought leadership

However, there's a caveat and it comes in my second observation. If the person curating the content is able, through that content, to gain new concepts or insights that they then deliver to their audience as refreshed, new and repackaged content, then this could otherwise be construed by their audience as thought leadership.

But I actually have yet to see an example of this and thus the jury is out till some strong examples come back to light.

If anyone is aware of one or two examples please let me recognize in order that I will share it with those curious about this subject.

Regurgitating content does not cut it

Simply regurgitating somebody else's content isn't progressing to cut it. Repurposing content isn't progressing to cut it and neither can re-packaging it. Content curation during this type merely cannot be referred to as thought leadership.

It is only that curation results to company or the curator delivering a completely new hypothesis or insight that it will begin approaching TL standing. Even then once it reaches that time it will hardly be referred to as curated content anyway, instead it's the curator's interpretation and insights that are impressed by that content.

I don't wish to require something far away from content curation. It’s fantastic for a content/editorial calendar and it will be a good support to a TL campaign. Content curation permits you to watch trends in your house and facilitate inform higher what you're designing in time period.
