On the plus side: these curation snipers get more curation rewards than what they add to the author rewards, effectively taking rewards from the voter farmers. If they deserve the rewards is on another page, though...

And yes I'm just grumpy, not so much to do with curation, or the lack of it 'for Steem' these days.

The overall % of the curation reward doesn't change as far as I can tell.
The only time I have seen vote farmers earning less is when the sniper is the sole "other" voter in the scenario. Otherwise, the sniper just gets the bigger share of the 25% allocation and the author is more or less unaffected. Of course, these "authors" tend to be voting for themselves with more than one account anyhow.
You're right, the overall % of curation rewards does not change. The author earns exactly 75% of the sum of vote values while all curators together get up to 25%. I was assuming (without explicitly saying, sorry) that the larger voter and the author are the same person/account/group. In that case, the author share is slightly increased by the curation snipers, but the curation share of author and large voter together can be reduced by more than this value.
