Hunting Lobster at Lake Lut Tawar Central Aceh

Lake Lut Tawar is a tourist site located in Central Aceh, Aceh Province, Indonesia. The lake is surrounded by mountains has an area of about five thousand hectares more.

In addition to being a tourist attraction, also a location to make a living for fishermen who live near Lake Lut Tawar. One of them, is catching lobsters. Lobsters living in Lut Tawar are freshwater type lobsters (Cherax quadricarinatus).

When I, along with @kharrazi, @azirgraff, and @irza, tour to Lake Lut Tawar, I had a chance to follow how the lobster catching process was done by traditional fishermen there. Iqbal, a fisherman in Lake Lut Tawar, did two ways of catching lopster,:

_"Bubu"

Use "Bubu"

"Bubu" is a trap made with wire mesh.
Iqbal's "Bubu" was made by himself. About 50 centimeters in diameter and tall about 30 centimeters. In the circle "Bubu", there are three holes, as a hole for the entry of Lobster.

According to Iqbal, lobsters will be heading to the shores of the lake, at night. So in the afternoon, "Bubu" which has been filled with coconut, began to pair in the lake.

Iqbal also captures the lobster with a spear. Small spear size. Made of round wood, about one and a half meters long. On the edge of a spear, there is an iron that looks like a fork.

How to use the spear, at night, Iqbal to the shores of the lake, with spears and flashlights. At the edge of the lake, the flashlight is directed to the water. When viewed lobster, it will be directly stabbed with a spear. This second way, the result is less than using "Bubu.".
