Dhime Baja

Dhime Baja is the one of the most important musical instrument of Newari culture. In Newari tradition, it is played from ancient time. In many festival and jatras, people enjoyed a lot by playing such instrument. It has got its one value among the Newari community. In every ceremony, we used dhime Baja for fun and entertainment.

We have culture dress for playing the dhime. Dhime is made of wood or tama outside and it is round up by the skin of an animal. We can make different music according to its notes. In every year there is held a competition to prevent it for our upcoming generation. We need follow all rules and regulation in the period of its training. Learners should worship the Nataraj. It is believed that Nataraj is the head or teacher of such instrument. After finishing training we worship Nataraj for our good performance.
