Traditional pounding tools that are becoming scarce
Aceh is known for its thick culture and also their unique traditions which until now are still preserved even though some of its people. One of the things that is still preserved is the use of jeungki as one of the traditional tools for pounding rice or rice. Jeungki is a traditional tool made from selected wood in the Aceh forest, Jeungki has the function to pound rice, rice, sago and others. In its former glory, this tool became one of the very useful tools at the time of the harvest season, they used this jeungki to pound their harvested rice to be used as rice or flour which was then processed into food, but now the use and presence of jeungki we can only find it in several remote areas of Aceh's villages and museums which are still displayed beautifully with their still awake elegance. The use of Jeungki was very useful for the people at that time, because at that time there were no modern and sophisticated tools like now.

Jeungki is made from selected wood and is full of the art of beauty. Jeungki 2.5 meters long with a hammer-shaped edge, usually for the tip used softer wood in the end made mortar from mane or other wood. Previously, each house had Jeungki, because with Jeungki the process of pounding grain was purer. Even more so when approaching the feast, many housewives in rural areas began to pound flour as raw material for various types of cakes in preparation for welcoming guests on holidays that came to their homes. Jeungki is used by moving the foot on the back end like a pedal so it will lift the front end as a pounder and give a strong impact result. At the end of the lever a frame consists of two perpendicular parts which are connected to the wood as a horizontal drive which makes jeungki rise and fall. While at the front end point is to pound mortar. It is customary for women in rural villages to do flour pounding as a cake menu to prepare to welcome the feast, in one case there are 4 to 5 women working in mutual help, for the girls standing on the tip of jeungki, while housewives sit on the front edge guarding flour while smoothing. With Jeungki also being a culture of mutual assistance or working together housewives in all things.
In addition to the use of jeungki as a rice or rice shooter, the use of jeungki is also to teach the meaning of togetherness and cooperation in the team because no matter how Jeungki cannot operate or run if only one person moves it. In addition, in the operation of the pounder there are elements of social significance that are very influential in the life of the community. Jeungki used to be found in almost every house of the people of Aceh, especially when it will enter the month of Ramadan, we will hear Jeungki's use very much with its distinctive voice that echoes every corner of the village. Crowded people process flour for baking ingredients at the time of the holiday later by using the traditional tools. Along with the times, we have rarely met the use of jeungki because people prefer to use more sophisticated and modern tools to process flour or rice, only a few people are in the interior of Aceh who still preserve the use of this traditional Jeungki tool.
