America's age of consent is higher than it needs to be
There. I said it. All it does it falsely brand normal people having consensual sex as "pedophiles" , destroying their characters and livelihoods over it.
Actually, over 14 years, it has been proven that women are able to handle sex both physically and emotionally. USA are the only ones keeping the age of consent around 18 years.
Looking at Europe for example:

16 - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Finland, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Netherlands, Northern Cyprus, Norway, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom.

So basically, most of the USA is still influenced majorly by the echoes of old christian morality, and in this regard it equals Islamist Turkey and Orthodox Christian Vatican. :^)
Because the ages of consent are so high across the United States of America, it would only make sense for each and every state jurisdiction to keep underage marriage legal predicated upon the English Common Law that establishes the minimum marriageable age of 12 for girls and the minimum marriageable age of 14 for boys. Of course, minors should still have to get permission from their parents to get married, at least. Now legions of femi-nazis are threatening our nation with their crusade to pass laws that would make marriage illegal for anyone under 18 years old under any circumstances. It should be interesting to know where all of that is going to take our nation. Wherever it may be, it won't lead to anything positive.
An additional fact about the Vatican: Of course there are no children living in the Vatican but the law about the age of consent exists because the law of the Vatican is just a copy of the 70 years old Italian law. But because the old Italian law talked about the age of 12 this was also the case in the Vatican. So when the story of sexual abuse by priests all around the world broke the Vatican was in the middle of a shitstorm for having the law at 12 although it was never used because there are no children.
