RE: The Gate to the Temple Gwan Chock Sa
An interesting visit to a temple with an intriguing name!
Fire and water - two of the four elements that make up the world, @slowwalker
I can hear the monks chanting:
With lights brightly shining
Abolishing this gloom
I adore the Enlightened One,
The Light of the three worlds.
As you rightly point out water can be used for cleansing and purification as candles can be used for offerings.
I can almost inhale the sweet smell of incense.
But it appears this temple has fallen into disuse, its paintings are faded and its statues dirty.
Even the nearby vendors selling snacks and refreshments seem tired and bored.
You alone are left to appreciate the legacy of the past, @slowwalker, and to mourn its fading glory.
