The Taoist temple and the Chinese influence to the Filipino culture

Experience the great wall of China in Taoist Temple. This was an unplanned visit in Taoist. It was a Sunday after service and we suddenly felt bored because we didn't do any activities after church. Since this temple is nearby so we decided to drop by. Because of the popularity of the place among tourists, this has been blogged a hundreds of times but today I'm still gonna talk about it.

Taoist Temple is not just for Chinese but it is for anyone who wants to visit.

The temple is built by Cebu's Substantial Chinese Community in 1972. Devotees perform rituals where one prayer to the gods to grant one's wish. In fact, Taoist became one of the tourist attractions in the city. Chinese believed that the dragon symbolizes as the enlightenment, power and a good fortune.

The devotees of the Taoist Temple also follow the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu. Many people went there, you have to take 80 steps before you get at the top area. (but please remain silent because there are worshipers who do rituals inside especially on Wednesdays).

Chinese people have been influencing the Filipino culture between to 10th and 16th centuries. The trade with China was the beginning of the major influence and contribution to the Filipino culture. One of the major influences that Chinese brought in the Philippines was culinary arts. Some of culinary techniques were sauteed dishes, rice cakes and noodle dishes like pancit.

In fact, the world's first China town in the world is found in Binondo Manila, Philippines. It is known as the "little China". It was established in 1594 to serve as a home to Chinese settlers during the Spanish regime. The streets and places in Binondo were given different Chinese names by the settlers. Other China towns in the Philippines are found in Quezon City, Ilo-ilo City, Davao City, and Cebu City.

There were a lot of colonizers who have been influencing the Filipino culture until today but the Chinese culture is one of the most prevalent ones.
