The martial arts are passed down from generation to generation. But now many of the Dayak young generation who leave this martial tradition, especially the younger generation who live in urban areas. History of Kuntau according to the oral parents is a martial arts heritage ancestors of Dayak people of antiquity. The movement is similar to martial movement from mainland China. According to the oral tribal history of the Dayak Ngaju-Ot Danum tribe, Sempung (Sam Hau Fung) the Hull child (Maharaja Bunu) has studied all kinds of wars and martial arts in the ancient Chinese island of Mako. The science was brought back to Borneo, then spread to the Dayak tribe and their descendants.

In general, the learning process kuntau relatively long, difficult and must have a strong physical endurance. The final process of learning Kuntau is in a circle, and must be able to deflect an attack that uses Mandau. In the final stage or batamat, usually the teacher will give a handle to his students who graduated the Oil Garak kind of oil that if applied to the hands, hand movements will become faster, reflex and agile.
While bangkui is a martial art whose movement in the inspiration of the movement of animals bangkui (a kind of big monkey in the forest of Borneo). The bangkui movement has many deadly movements of the opponent with one attack. Therefore Bangkui is very dangerous if used in vain. Bangkui often used with bare hands, although there is also a toya (stick)
Thanks.
