Gulee Awak Agam, Men's Special Dishes

Gulee awak agam (male curry) is a special dish during a party in Southwest Aceh. This cuisine is so named because all cooking activities are done by men, except milling. Women are not allowed to take cooked cuisine, because this dish is only for men.

Things like this have long been a tradition in Abdya every marriage, circumcision, and death. Homeowners always provide ducks, goats and even buffaloes or cows. Pre-cooked meat will be minced small.

The cooking process always uses a big pot. A variety of distinctive herbs mixed with spices will make it taste rich. Another special seasoning is marijuana in small quantities, even now almost not used anymore.

Usually meat that became the main raw material will be mixed with chopped jackfruit. The cuisine should always be stirred until boiling. If it is cooked, everyone will take the rice that has been provided, they immediately thrust the dish that contains the rice was on top of a large pot to get a spoonful of dishes.
