Cryptocurrency News / 22 August 2017 / Bitcoin Prices Dip Below $4,000 to Hit 7-Day Low
Following a period of record highs, the price of Bitcoin is back below $4,000. While it is unclear what is causing the dip, it may be related to the upcoming SegWit activation which is set to take place in roughly 233 blocks (38 hours). The nature of the update may make investors wary, prompting them to "wait out" the update and return once technical stability is ensured.
At the moment, Bitcoin is trading at $3,780, its lowest total observed since April 12th. The price has dropped 6% in the last 24h with over $570M exchanged. Japan continues to lead the trading volume, with a 40% market share.
thanks for the info 😁😊😉
