1990's Analyst discussing the potential of Decentralized Banking brought by the Internet
Saw this in a report from the late 90's analyzing Amazon's potential value, and thought this was quote was super interesting. It was referring to the potential impacts the internet/web will create:
"On-line consolidation- If the Internet adds scale, it might eventually drive consolidation. Consider banking. Once we can conduct our transactions on-line, who needs a regional bank? Geography becomes irrelevant."
Even in the early stages of the public use of the Internet people were realizing the potential value of decentralization in the banking industry. Digital currency is inevitable.
