This is an up close photo and introduction to a very interesting gemstone in my collection.

It is called Moldavite. Technically it is a tektite. That means it is a naturally formed glass crystal structure, made from molten silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide and other metal oxides. Moldavite is a specific kind that can only be mined from the site of an ancient crater near the Moldau River in the Czech Republic, where a massive meteorite is believed to have collided with the earth 14.7 million years ago.

As you can see, it is a transparent light green crystal with an irregular surface. Genuine moldavite can be recognized by the bubbles that formed inside it. These bubbles are formed from the hot steam (or #steem if you prefer) rising up through the molten material. Without the light behind it, the light green color is less visible. It looks more like a dull dark green, with only the edges catching and refracting some light.

Imitation crystals are frequently sold and hard to differentiate from the real ones. Generally, it is recommended to only buy moldavite from a reputable crystal dealer. A very small piece like this one might cost $15 to $20, a high cost because there is only a small amount of this material in the world. Beware of any large sized carved pieces that sell for a cheap price, or are marked down for clearance bargains. The one I purchased came with a certificate of authenticity signed by the jeweler to avoid any fraud.

There are many strange beliefs about this crystal. I have read stories of people describing the ability to hear voices and contact demons with it that won't go away. People have reported losing their crystal, and then having it reappear somewhere different when they least expected to find it. Some people report attaining higher levels of consciousness as they tune into the high frequency level of the crystal. Others simply report having experienced many unrelated events of good fortune and luck, and serendipity.

Another trait people have reported about this crystal is the sensing of warmth to the touch. Some people can smell the crystal. Those who have reported healing effects from it have also stated that its effects can be felt from across the room simply by being near it.

After #hodling onto it for about five months, I have experienced a greater amount of fortune, good will, positive changes, and luck. Is this related to an inanimate piece of natural glass? Personally, I am still a skeptic. That would be a stretch even for my imagination to laud it as my benefactor.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Have a great day!

I had a spiritual epiphany about 15 months ago when the spiritual realm, unexpectedly, made itself known to me. I then discovered the joy of crystals and being a tad cynical asked the spirits if they held inherent powers. In reply my guide asked me what I thought - I replied that they gave me a sense of joy to which she simply stated - well there you go Linda! I thoroughly enjoyed your piece. I am an Artist/Author/Lightworker keen to connect with likeminded folks; I have upvoted and followed and invite you to reciprocate. Be well and happy ;) xox

Sure. Thanks for being so genuine, and relating your unique experience.

I have always been fascinated by Moldavite. It makes me a little queasy to be around it. Always thought the crystal thing was a bunch of crap, until I met Jet. That is a cool stone and one that has helped me a lot.

Is Jet a person, or the name of your crystal? Now I am fascinated.

Jet Stone is an rock that is formed when pieces of driftwood was buried, compacted, and then petrified after it has been heated and turned into coal. It is super light and shiny black. I really like it, it is not a popular stone. I don't know anyone who use it. I was given to me by a friend of my Moms, A tarot reader and stone enthusiast.

When I was a kid and my family went camping, I used to always pick out my favorite driftwood from the stream and use it as a staff, fire poker, toy for the weekend. Loved that wood because it was lightweight and strong, and I felt like it wanted to be picked up and played with. Thanks for telling me about your jet stone.

With that story in mind, I think you will love it. Ask at a rock store of metaphysical shop, it is usually tucked in a dusty corner :)
