Cryptocurrency Rigs Trend Will Change in 2018

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

So AMD is releasing Ryzen 5 2400G.
What' so special about this CPU?

According to release, it is ryzen core with 11 Radeon VEGA (!) CU in it, connected by the infinity fabric architecture.

The cpu part alone could yield cryptonight algorith hashrate at around 250-300 h/s.
The integrated vega 11 GPU could well yield around 300 h/s if goes by vega 56 that can reach 1800 h/s

Conservatively we can expect around 500 h/s per cpu.

So just make lots of a small mATC pc with this CPU, add another VEGA 56 or something else that supplant it,supply it with around 400 w of PSU, and shove it in a cheap, flat box casing.

Stack those PCs as many as you can.

Soon the cryptonight focused mining farm will look more server room than some electrocution inviting storage room.

Sort:

why estimates was very wrong.
The CPU only has 4 MB of L3 Cache, so it can go 150 h/s. The VEGA part has reported hashrate of around 90 h/s. This yield around 240 h/s, only half of I predicted.
Not a good setup for mining on the cheap.
