China Publishes 31 Crytpocurrency Project Rankings - EOS takes the first place

The ranking of cryptocurrency projects by the Information Industry Development of China is out. The ranking lists 31 crypto projects. EOS takes the first place, and Bitcoin sees some improvements from the previous month.

The Centre of Information Industry Development (CCID) started ranking cryptocurrency projects in May. The first ranking started out with 28 projects. The next month, they added 2 more projects – EOS and Nebulas. This month, they added a new one – Gxchain – to the list, making a total of 31 ranked projects.

According to their latest list, EOS remains at the top of the list. Just like the previous month, Ethereum remains in the second place. Bitcoin moved up from 17th place to the 16th. Bitcoin Cash jumped from 28th place to 25th.

The newest addition to the list Gxchain is placed on the 4th place. The project is a decentralized data exchange. It’s backed by a stable cryptocurrency that is pegged to Yuan. The Gxchain website states that the project would connect data sources released on separate platforms.

What is the ranking methodology?

According to China Electronics News Agency (Cena), the ranking is based on “comprehensive investigation and evaluation of the public chain from three aspects: basic technology, application, and innovation.”

The CCID takes basic technology, functions, performance, and decentralization into account when ranking cryptocurrency projects. According to them, the EOS scored the highest according to the given criteria.

“The basic technology mainly assesses the technical level of the current public chain, including evaluation of functions, performance, security, and decentralization.”

“In terms of basic technical sub-indicators, EOS scored the highest.”

Also, they evaluate the application aspect which touches the ability to support practical applications. Node deployment, wallet, development support, and implementation are also important ranking factors.

“The application mainly examines the comprehensive ability of the public chain to support practical applications, including node deployment, wallet application, development support and application implementation.”
Lastly, when it comes to cryptocurrency projects, innovation is the key. They evaluate the quality of open source code of public chain, a number of contributors, updates, and the impact of the code.
