SOLA: Decentralized social network that rewards your content | My personal review

Hi steemians!

A couple of days ago I came across a platform I did not know about. It's called SOLA (acronym for Social Layer)and it's a social network that will pay in their own cryptocurrency for the content you will publish there. Let's start with my personal review on this project.

So..what is Sola? In their own words:

Sola is the next generation decentralized social platform that incentivizes and benefits all involved parties — users, third-party developers and the core team. The name Sola is an acronym for “social layer.” Sola is an open ecosystem, which means that most of its source code will be made open source and available for audit, improvement and usage by anyone.

The platform is based on what they call cards, which can be the following types:

Text Card (up to 250 characters); 

• Link (title with URL); 

• Poll (up to 5 options); 

• Media (image, video, gif).

The app is kind of overwhelming at the beginning but you rapidly get used to it. Basically it's a tinderesque kind of thing. You swipe up if you like the content, and you swipe down if you don't like it. If your content is not cool chances are that you will not get much attention, therefore not much revenue.

In SOLA there are no followers, so the impact and earnings of your publication is not directly related to the followers you have (like other old platforms like instagram, twitter or even steemit). 

All users are treated equally so you have the same chances to appear in someone's feed. You can filter by language and the cards look pretty nice. I have seen a little bit of crap as well but if you swipe down you will prevent the card from getting more viral. The AI of the platform will tailor little by little with your preferences.

You do not have followers, but you can get priority for the people you are more interested. You can also mute someone if his/her content is not what you like. Here you have some screenshots of my own experience:

I liked the way you can see content here. I think it's something new and fast and I enjoyed the experience so far. 

As someone interested in photography I've been able to monetize my content straight ahead, while after years using instagram and having thousands of dollars did not give me a single cent. It all went to instagram/facebook. 

Regarding the TOKEN price, they have just finished their ICO, even thought the company has been there for a while. They raised 2M$ and have developed a good product that will get better in the future. I like that they have a final product in the market and that could lead to a potential good investment.

Figures on the ICO:

The total amount of SOL token created will be 150 000 000. Token sale hard cap is 5 000 000 USD. Token price is 0.1 USD. This is the token distribution.

Right now you can exchange SOL in Tidex and Etherdelta. The coin is not listed yet in coinmarketcap due to low volume. However you can check the price of the token here

This is their roadmap. As you can see they have acomplished already some milestones and the project started in 2013. The movement towards a blockchain integration went by in Q1 2017. That's a serious development plan and it gives me confidence to invest in SOLA

As per my point of view, this is a good opportunity. The project seems solid and has a growing community plus the monetization options. In contrast to steemit, where getting audience is more and more difficult and big whales play the game, here everyone is treated equally. They also have a good referral system where you get a % of the SOL earned by your friends. Of course they will still get 100% so it's cool to use it.
