Network holdings - A look at crypto equivalency
So a lot of newbies in the space think they need to own a "whole one". This whole one metric is irrelevant when you start to cut things down to their circulating supply numbers and divisibility as this number sets how many anyone else can have. For example, I can have a whole 5* 10c coins but that is nothing compared to someone who owns half a bitcoin.
To give people an idea of what a "whole" bitcoin looks like compared to other currencies I have produced the following table. This is to increase awareness the equivalency one would need to hold the same network percentage as a whole Bitcoin. It is a simple devision of the coin's total supply by that of bitcoin's total supply. For those who are just trading for $ increase this means nothing but for those who feel their coin may be worth the most long term, here you go, this is the number to hold to have an equivalent holding to one bitcoin of your chosen currency as a deflationary asset. Note I didn't take into account the emission rate. Also bear in mind there will likely only be one that leads the pack, consider gold's market cap vs silver. Be aware that a coin who easily fork also is likely to have these numbers change more easily. Also consider the differences between the current supply vs max supply.
In short 1 BTC ≠ 1 XRP (using the top 2 at time of writing)
As a side calculation. Total gold (by google search) = 5 820 203 717 oz.
5820203717 (total gold currently)/21000000 (total bitcoin)≈277
277oz ≈ 7.85kg
Therefore based on the current amount of gold in circulation vs the current maximum number of bitcoin (giving gold the advantage in numbers game here) would mean 1 btc is the same as holding nearly 8kg of gold in terms of amount of total supply! How craze is that!
