This indeed has been a long time overdue. CL was brilliant in easing the way for SegWit into Bitcoin with his low profile charming of the Chinese crypto community.
Now he is working on cross-chain atomic swaps with the Decred devs and that will be awesome. We'll have scaling and privacy with BTC-DCR-LTC and probably others too. The value proposition of Monero after that stuff gets built is not certain IMO.
