I don't really think it's bad news. Coinbase has to cover its butt after their huge gaffe with BCC. I still think we see Ripple on Coinbase in 2018, but this is pure speculation. I just don't put too much stock in them saying we have no plans to add any securities. They simply don't want more negative attention or to increase their risk of regulation.
I agree, XRP is going to be listed on coinbase sooner than later
