A New Mobile Game Lets You Mine Cryptocurrency On Your Phone

A new mobile game lets you mine a new cryptocurrency on your phone without expensive hardware.

The cryptocurrency is being launched by Dragonglass, a company founded by Mart Lume and Gleb Skibitsky, with a focus on "bringing novice users into the cryptocurrency mining industry with enjoyable mobile gaming," according to a press release from the company.

The release calls Dragonglass "the first gamified cryptocurrency experience in the world." It was launched on Feb. 16.

Dragonglass is a user-friendly mobile game that purports to make crypto mining accessible to the general public.

"Believing that cryptocurrency mining would become widely adopted if it were more affordable and simple, the founders developed a unique method to mine cryptocurrency while playing an engaging mobile game," the release states.

“The initial idea was to provide users a very easy way to mint cryptocurrency,” Skibitsky said in the release. The cryptocurrency is mined "just by making seamless transactions while playing a mobile game."

According to the release, mining Dragonglass requires no programming skills or extensive knowledge of cryptocurrencies. People won't need expensive hardware or mining rigs, either, or even a particularly powerful smartphone; mining Dragonglass doesn't rely on computing power. Anyone with an Android phone capable of running a 2D mobile game can mine Dragonglass, with an iOS version in the works.

To play the game, users will need to buy Dragonglass and Ether tokens, download the app and start playing.

"Other ICOs must fundraise with the hope to realize a project in the future, but Dragonglass already offers its users a product that simply works," the release states. "The Dragonglass application, that can be downloaded for free, contains a 'Dragonglass Miner' game. It is a puzzle platformer, where users complete tasks and move through the levels. By successfully completing a level, they are mining DGS in the process. This way users can mine up to 10x of the tokens they have initially bought."
