Decentralized Content Promotion with Media Protocol

As a content creator, I like what Steemit has tried to do.
I can write a blog on a platform where a centralized power is not in control. There is no centralized company controlling what I write here. I write mainly about cryptocurrencies so Steemit is a good platform for me since Facebook and Google have taken steps against content that is related to cryptocurrencies; this type of censorship does not exist here.

Steemit is good but there are some problems with it. Content creators get a very specific audience who are mainly interested in cryptocurrencies and blockchain. This is a decentralized content platform but only a specific type of content can succeed here and most content creators are not involved with crypto.

An even bigger problem is that most of the content on Steemit does not reach an audience unless you promote it. Content promotion is completely centralized so the idea of Steemit being a completely decentralized platform has not worked. Content promotion involves payment to bidding bots and each is controlled by just one person.

I like what Steemit has tried to do but I do not like how it works.

Decentralized Content Promotion

Content being produced on a decentralized platform is not enough. It has no value if it does not have an audience. To have an audience, content creators need a following. To get a real following, a creator can either spend 5 years producing high quality work everyday and get 1 or 2 followers a day, or use a short cut by promoting the content to quickly reach the people who would like her content. Media Protocol is decentralizing content completely.

Media Protocol will allow content creators to create content and then promote it without relying on any centralized thing at all. Media Protocol puts a price on people’s attention and then creators can just make a reward for people to view the content. Unlike Steemit, Media Protocol can allow any content creator to reach any audience and it lets them promote without needing the approval of centralized of a centralized promoter.

Media protocol takes the idea of decentralized content and then makes it work the right way. It uses blockchain technology but it helps not just the creators who focus on this technology. Media Protocol can be used for the distribution and promotion of any content in a completely decentralized manner.
