How Crypto Built my Gaming PC and Taught me How to Make a Living with Crypto Currencies
Disclaimer: The above photo is not my actual PC, but I did use the same case in my build
Saving for that dream PC was hell but Crypto finally got me what I wanted
I find it kind of humorous what started me down the path to Crypto greatness and spawned an unrelenting passion to live fiat free. See my friends, before I became aware of the movement in Crypto to straighten out the Central banking systems, I started as a guy just trying to make ends meet and maybe save a little on the side to build a decent PC. Dreams do come true so let me tell you how I got to it before spilling my guts what I have under the hood of this beast of a machine.
First trading, then mining, then going to work
As a few know through new found friendships here at Steemit, I started my findings in Crypto last year due to being between jobs. I came across a google search for home based work about Bitcoin and the path to Crypto began for me. The article made me realize the Bitcoin I heard about back in 2013 was all grown up and moving towards helping a lot of financial security so began my push through the learning curves to find out how I could get inside and use this knowledge to my advantage.
Plainly speaking.....I was so naive
My first tactic was to take some saved earnings and strike it rich on the exchanges like so many believe is possible. Months later and a lot of change scraping the reality came to me that sure I can make a little profit but a day job seemed more profitable. In the end I learned a lot and you can never put a price on solid education when it comes to trading in crypto but it was clear to me the only guys making good where the ones holding high volume. Money begets making more money always, even in Crypto.
My second attempt at Crypto riches was to buy a bunch of miners. Sure I heard its an unprofitable game. When you add in electricity costs and at the stage I was in, second hand Ebay styled miners was all I could afford but you couldn't tell my stubborn side that this wouldn't do the trick. So I set the used miners up, let them run and a month later found out that mining alone is a very costly venture when your working with dated asics. Lets just say that electricity bill was heart breaking. Once again, money begets making more money.
At this stage I was all about giving up. Seems to me my luck in this space of people making life changing amounts of income was just out of reach for me. I couldn't place what I was doing wrong or if my luck was just that horrible. So I decided to really get involved with some communities, find out what coin out there made sense to me and try for a more long term solution.
Along the way, in that search I found out more about the roles that Crypto could play against the Central Banking systems. This area of financial anarchy ignited some passion in me. All my life I harborded a small hatred for how the government here in the USA dealt with the common man through its Federal Reserve show of authority. Then it became less about money and more about the movement. Maybe I was getting this Crypto thing all wrong, maybe I am here because this is the answer to my life long struggles of issues with that system.
Then came PIVX
Along the way I bumped heads with a few coins, not going to name names but seriously found a few corrupted systems of their own here in Crypto. Enough so that I started to lose some hope that the fight for financial freedoms against the system still existed in Crypto. Then came my finding of the crypto called PIVX and its amazing community of enthusiasts.
I happened in their slack at a very early stage after their first announcement of their rebranding to PIVX. They were called Darknet before my time but never seen much light of day till recently. Something infectious happened while i was learning about PIVX and a drive to work for them came over me. A few awesome souls that seen something in me got me into running their Facebook and marketing and then it hit me on why I was not getting ahead in Crypto. The message was strong and clear, my work ethic was more important and valuable vs my strive to earn money on happen chance luck like a lotto that seems to play heavy in the Crypto exchange markets. The only way I would make it is to work for it and so began a few months of serious effort on my part to help my friends at PIVX in any way possible.
Thanks to some friends, a lot of hard work, I finally made it
So long story short, I earned my keep while at PIVX. Rose up a little in the finances, not rich by any means but made enough to tackle some bills and finally get that PC build I started out on this journey to achieve. Biggest part of that gain was this, I plan to reside in Crypto and far from fiat so the PC ended up becoming another investment in my Crypto future. Now I can work more and get more done, plus my mining on it is a little more efficient lol
Moral of the story, remember one thing...nothing in life comes free. Some of us are lucky enough to come into the world with riches, some of us have to fight through the world to obtain it. No matter what side of the coin your on, working hard for it and being dedicated is the only way to get what you want in life, and to hold onto what matters in life always.
So here is my latest build (this is for my techno nerd friends)
The build is as follows and complete, working like a beast:
Corsair 740 Case
Asus Maximus iX Formula Motherboard
i7 7700K Unlocked Processor
Corsair Hydro 1115i Cooler
1000 Watt EVGA Gold PSU
Asus Strix GTX 1080 A-8G GPU
Got her at a crazy overclock of 5ghz for the processor and rolling out fine with low temps under specs. Gaming well, and helping me kick out these Steemit post while mining like a champ.
So work hard, play hard, enjoy life to the fullest. Don't get discouraged if things don't come to you fast, just be resilient and fight for another day to make your dreams and goals come true. And remember one thing, you can buy stuff with Crypto, don't let them fool you to believe its difficult, maybe not smooth sailing but I turned some of my PIVX into a $2600 PC build so anything is possible.
Very nice. I'm doing the exact same thing with STEEM right now. I missed the boat on Bitcoin and I am fully into STEEM in the belief it will take off. Hopefully one day it will get me my Ryzen 7 build I keep adding to cart but crying over the price :)
Man that is exactly what I did with this build, kept putting it into carts and waiting lol...finally happened thankfully. Steem will get you there, I have a funny feeling it will do great for a lot of people. I am kind of diving in this here more full time as each day passes and not feeling to crazy for doing that lol.
I just want to SLI another GPU in there for extra mining boosts, actually not too bad mining Bitcoin right now with the rise, extra cash. Never really is too late for anything in Crypto...just gotta know whats going where and hope for the best lol.
Great Story, I would also love to be able to live completely off of crypto but it will take a while for me at least. Inspiring Post. Thanks
Trust me I am struggling to make it completely a full time gig but working my way at it. Safe to say the only form of fiat lately has been due to having to pay a bill or two that only takes fiat, if they only knew it was once Bitcoin first lol. Does take a lot of sacrifice and resilience though to adapt to full time crypto usage, trust me I don't have a lot of money but hopeful the sacrifices will pay off for my future self, it can be done you just gotta focus and make it happen I always tell people.
Followed you, feel free to come by and comment anytime...wishing you greatness with Steemit and Crypto at large

Dude awesome setup. Looking at PIVX now on coinmarketcap and damn, it exploded over the last few months.
PIVX is well work investing in my opinion. I suspect in the coming months they will grow even more as soon as they get that Zerocoin Protocol completed. Definitely worth keeping an eye on. I don't really work so much anymore with their marketing, had to split my time for the family and get some finances in order but I still back them very much as a coin of worth in crypto. Appreciate the comment, just followed you. Dig into my past posts, did a lot of stuff on PIVX if you like to learn more about them
Damn! nice specs! Great read! I gonna build my own computer to, with my first paycheck ;-) I just started to work 1/6/2017
Congrats, awesome to hear your doing great and found work. I hit a few rough spots myself so its always great to hear others doing well for themselves. Funny I play the hell out of Skyrim on this thing lol...haven't found a game that stutters yet on this. Gotta share with us your build when you get it done, lots of us here are into such things. Just followed you, hope to hear more from you in the future
Funny, my name is combination of Skyrex and Skrillex, back in the early days of skyrim I played it day and night! Thanks! Yes I will defently share the buying and building process!
lol...funny it just reminded me of the game, makes sense now that you laid out who it stood for lol. Look forward to seeing your build...I am all about that stuff, bit of nerd when it comes to computers

That is an awesome setup. I plan to do the dual or tri monitor thing too with this, keep things a little more organized but on a single monitor at the moment. Thing runs great though...one of the best builds of my life
the only what i need is a 1080 strix :D
Kind of wish I held out for the strix 1080 ti version, I got the advanced version a step behind the OC one. But I figure slap in a second one in and SLI it and I should be above a single TI lol. Its a sweet GPU though the one I got, I haven't seen it struggle...I mine with it probably way too much though and push it but a second one should take up the slack. Great cards
nice setup, have also upgraded, check out my desktop!
Great stuff man, congratulations!
Well I have had it for a month or so now lol...just hit me I haven't shared that build or the story behind it lol. Just glad I finally got what I planned to get with Crypto out of the way, now I will use it to go for the bigger goals and hopefully leave fiat behind forever
nice post and nice story
I appreciate that, I try not to bore my people here lol....but it happens. Glad to meet you, feel free to swing by anytime, just followed you
I just followed you too, thank you
