Crypto Exchange Security Report: 16% of platforms received an A rating, but A + is not assigned to anyone
According to the latest independent analyst report by ICORating, 16% of the largest exchanges have been assigned A rating, and none of them received А +. Kraken (A), Cobinhood (A) and Poloniex (A-) make up the top three safest and most reliable exchanges in the world.
Crypto Exchange Security Report: 16% of platforms received rating A
Representatives of ICORating rated 135 trading platforms, the trading volume of which exceeds $ 100,000. The analysis was carried out according to four parameters: security of the user account, security of the registrar and domain, web security and protection against DoS attacks.
None of the exchanges could not get an A + rating, two exchanges (1.5% of the total) received an authoritative rating of A; and 16% fell into category A or A-; 55% of the analyzed platforms were in the group B + and B-; the rest received C +, C or C- scores.
Each of the above four parameters was estimated based on the analysis of certain criteria:
-user Account Security — The report evaluated four criteria, including password protection and two-factor authentication, and found that only 22% of exchanges met all four parameters
-security of the registrar and domain - such security measures as the active six-month validity period and the use of registration blocking were analyzed. And only 3% of the tested platforms met all four criteria.
-Web security - was analyzed based on 10 criteria (including protection against clickjacking, protection against MITM attacks (“man in the middle”) and the presence of HSTS)
-protection against DoS attacks is quite common - 74% of all exchanges were “safe” by this criterion.
The currently largest crypto exchange Binance took 34th place (B +), while Gemini Winklevoss brothers - 84 (B-), and Huobi - 95 (B-).
It is noteworthy that Cryptopia Exchange hacked this week ranked 60th. It is worth noting that the report was published before the incident occurred.
