Poll: Privacy in cryptocurrencies - Government access and security against terrorism

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Hi Steemians,

I am in the middle of a debate with some colleagues about the necessity for privacy in cryptocurrencies.

We see the case of currencies like Bitcoin, Litecoin and even Ethereum were transactions can be traced somewhat easily versus Monero for instance where their transactions are obfuscated from the start, the debate came up defending the right for people to fully control their wallets (both physical and virtual) against the support or efforts of a government in fighting drug dealing and terrorism.

I personally believe in the right of the people to hold and control their assets and funds in any way they see fit, but I want to know what is your take on this debate,

Are you pro government over watch if they have motives or pro people's right for privacy?

it has nothing to do with terrorism or drug dealing. They use that excuse for people to believe that propaganda. ITS FOR TAXES ONLY. TO STEAL YOUR MONEY. To make sure you PAY THE EXTORTION FEES!

Good point of view, it is definitively a goal for the government to take as much money from the people as possible, but if the case would arise, how would you as the head of an Altcoin in an underdeveloped country stand up to the government trying to oppress and by all means attempting to shut down your project?

do it offshore with another ip address
