Websites that mine

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

I've heard that this happens but I've never really known how they do it, or why. Till I watched this video.

It's such a sneaky thing to do when they don't tell you. At the very least they should give you the option to choose. There are some websites I frequent that seem to slow down my machine significantly, I always just thought they were clunky, not built very well. But now I'm wondering if this is what they're doing; mining cryptocurrency without my knowledge.

But as Ivan explains in his video, it's not all bad. It can be a way for users to have an ad-free experience without the content providers losing out on ad revenue.

Ivan on Tech is a great channel, do check out his content on YouTube. He is a programmer and explains a lot of the technical side of things when it comes to blockchain and related tech. He also had a channel here on steemeit that you can follow.

Hope you learned something too
