My current cryptocurrency portfolio

It has been a while since I last posted an update of my cryptocurrency portfolio, and well, it's always fun to talk about what you're holding!

I am still holding mainly the same coins, but over time the percentages did change due to growth in some of my minor holds. I am liking my setup more and more though.

My current portfolio consists of, from the largest to the smallest:

  • 33% NEO
  • 15% Ethereum
  • 14% Bitcoin
  • 13% Stratis
  • 10% IOTA
  • 10% OmiseGO
  • 2% EOS
  • 1% Basic Attention Token
  • 1% GAS
  • 0.5% Raiden Tokens
  • 0.5% Golem

And of course my STEEM.

I recently got out of Loopring when I made a decent profit in Ethereum, hence the large amount of ETH currently. I still regret not having more Bitcoin, but I am still patiently waiting for a correction or altcoin rally that brings me back to previous highs. I also sold 1/3 of my IOTA during the rise, to get some more Bitcoin. I kind of regret it, but it was the only way to turn a profit in Bitcoin for me, so I took it.

NEO is still my biggest holding and I do think it has a bright future, as well as the fact that the generated GAS is very nice incentive to keep holding on to it. OmiseGO has been underperforming, while Stratis performed decently lately. I am still looking for my exit from Stratis, although I'm not sure it will ever get back to the satoshi levels it was before.

I feel I am still lacking some Dash, but I feel that may be 'the one that got away'. I would still like to own atleast 1 Monero. Other than that, I feel pretty good about my current portfolio as long as I can get out of Stratis at a good point.

I am considering turning some ETH into something else. If any of you have good suggestions, I am very much open to them! What are you guys currently holding?

You definitely can't go wrong with XMR. As far as alts go, I would recommend REQ and ENJ.

XMR really does seem appealing to me. It's just that I think that in the future governments are going to ban truly private crypto's. The only way we're going to avoid that is if the majority of crypto's become private.. If not, I feel there's a strong chance they're going to single out a few of them like Monero and outright ban their usage.

All the way up until that point I foresee great, great profits though. There's just added risk, which keeps me away.
I will have to look into REQ, I keep reading about it. Enjin I will skip.. I'm not too much into gaming so I don't know the space enough to judge!

I'm curious why you're so heavy in NEO. I hold a small position, but what are you most looking forward to? I know there's many new ICOs launching on their network.

There are a few reasons why I like NEO a lot. I got in when it was Antshares, so that's why it is a large part of my portfolio as it grew a lot since then. But my main attraction to it was the staking rewards and the promise of the Ethereum of China. I still believe the latter can come true in a later stage, but nowadays I am mostly very optimistic about the development going on in the NEO ecosystem. There's so many new ICO's launching on NEO that I stopped covering all of them.. I just couldn't keep up with half a dozen of them appearing on the same day sometimes.

NEO is also one of the few crypto's that has a very broad vision. It's not just the smart contracts and ICO's, but also digital identities and government compliance, the whole link with OnChain (which does private blockchains that link with NEO). They're really aiming at creating something that works with the existing world order, which is a huge benefit in terms of adoption vs being banned. When I look at the market cap of Ethereum, I can't help but feel like NEO is hugely undervalued. Especially since NEO can handle a lot more transactions per second than Ethereum.

I see it as my way to own my own 'mini-masternode' when it hits a high enough number. I don't have the money for any other significant masternode option, but this earns just as well and has a promising future ahead of it I believe.

Great portfolio! Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Dash and Monero have exploded. I'm glad I got a little of both (but not enough) when they pulled back so I at least have a little exposure. It's hard for me to justify adding to them now at these levels. The currency coins have been doing very well. Not having exposure to those 2 (due to price run-up), I got into Zcoin, Vertcoin, and PIVX.

Ok, now you must be your happy with your recent ether trade. Right? It went sooo ballistic! Just flying by your $600 mark. Sweet!

One of my recent favorite low priced coin is Stellar Lumens. I have posts explaining why.

Keep in mind though I'm a long term HODL'r. You seem like you have a HODL/trader-ish style.

Always enjoy your posts and info :)

Ha, yes, quite happy although it could have happened sooner! I'm still not caught up in BTC but getting close!
Zcoin, Vertcoin, PiVX all sound like great choices too. VTC and PVX especially I kind of always wanted but never felt I had spare funds for.

Turn some of that ETH into DASH

I have been thinking about it yes!

I'm finally doing some mining for dash a d monero. I had litecoin and dumped 3 for steem at 55.00 Wish I would have held and then sold and bought steem now. Live and learn.

Haha, yes I know what you mean. But as long as you don't sell for fiat, it's still in crypto like BTC and then it can still grow a lot as well.
All in all, pretty much every coin I ever sold... if I just held it, it would have been worth more. But timing is key.. I sold my Litecoin for $30 this year and turned it into Bitcoin. Had I held, Litecoin would be worth a lot more today but still my trade was more benficial since Bitcoin grew so much more

I just dumped half my Litecoin for Ether. Even with the high prices I wanted some more. Ether is the better project. I picked up Civic and Dash (when it was around 600). The low number of Dash sold me on getting some.

I bought Monaco way to high but it seems to be trending in the right direction now.

I completely agree with dumping LTC for ETH. I just don't know what the point of LTC is... whereas ETH has so much development on and businesses involved it it's scary. Half of the coins on coinmarketcap are Ethereum tokens and Ethereum based projects. Ethereum is definitely not going away anytime soon, even with new upcoming challengers on their way. Litecoin however... I don't see it..

Civic I wanted but I don't understand why the coin has value. Why would one spend a civic coin? Is it to pay transaction costs for accessing your ID?

Dash I should've gotten when it was $200. I always knew it was going places. That 10% fund they have is an amazing feature that I wish more crypto's had. It turns the digital economy into a sort of digital corporation or digital nationstate. But it's expensive now I feel.

Monaco I don't really want to touch. I rode the TenX wave for a little bit, but there are too many competitors with payment cards already and more on their way. If and when Visa or Mastercard itself starts to offer crypto payment cards, the story ends for Monaco and TenX etc. if you ask me

I'm getting out of Monaco soon. They have a partner ship with VISA, but if VISA can do it themselves..

Civic I look like as a stock. If the project goes places.

Everything I have is going up now, so I'm picking the winners and cutting some fat. Still have Qtum and Lisk too. Lisk I like though.

I really like the Civic project. I hope it does well. I may pick up some coins just because of that at some point, if I ever feel like I have money to spare.

I'm not ready to cut the fat yet.. I need more btc value before I can let go of things

why don't u try to hold some ada cause it looks so amazing project in my opinion?
thnx for sharing your thoughts on crypto portfolio...

I like it, but it suddenly came out of nowhere with a $700 million market cap on coinmarketcap. That was pretty high at the time, so I thought better gains could be had elsewhere. That's the only reason really. I wish I had known of it before it showed up on coinmarketcap.

thnx for your reply.
I think it isn't too late cause technically(just feeling not based on my knowledge^^) it must be sitting on 2nd or 3rd place in market cap...(long term view)
