Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of the current second largest cryptocurrency in terms of market cap, Ethereum, donated $2.4 million worth of ether to the SENS Research Foundation. The SENS Research Foundation was established back in March 2009 by Aubrey de Grey with the purpose of researching for treatments to cure diseases related to aging so that they can enable humans to live much longer than their average life expectancy. The news of the donation was announced by press release on the foundation's website. The research foundation has also previously received two donations of about $1 million each in Bitcoin from Pineapple Fund, a charity fund based on only Bitcoin. The first donation was received by the SENS foundation in December last year and the second donation was received on 2nd February 2018.
It is really good to hear such news about people donating to charities. The world is already facing enough problems and now we need to work together to solve these problems for the betterment of humanity.
