BANDZ: A DECENTRALIZED AND SECURED GLOBAL EXTRANET POWERED BY BLOCKCHAIN - My entry for the @originalworks sponsored contest

Bandz is a blockchain powered network and the word bandz is short for bandwidth. Their aim is to make standard software products and internet usage available to novice users and it is done with a decentralized and secure method.
As a brand that deals with bandwidth, they have taken up the initiative to provide more bandwidth to users of the internet. Bandwidth been the amount of internet data used by an individual.

Various products they are involved with include VPNs, mesh networking, remote proxies, bandwidth sharing and exchange, etc. They are hinged on creating a global extranet using the power of blockchain technology to promote access.
In general, bandwidth is a very essential commodity yet it seems a lot of companies and individuals have no control over the bandwidth they consume. Bandz aims to make this a thing of the past by giving the power of control to users such that an individual will now be able to control the amount of bandwidth he/she would like to purchase and consume and he/she will be able to do this with the very simple to use collection of software that will be offered by Bandz. With this initiative, there will no longer be congested networks on Wifi connections or any other varieties of private and public networks. This will help maximize resources and minimize cost in the long run while improving internet speed and accessibility.
Bandz will change the history of the internet with their self-explanatory, simple to use initiative that is to be presented to internet users as collections of applications and software which will give the user control over how he or she chooses to maximize the use of the internet.
The amount of multimedia devices available in the world is still increasing and resources to control and service this need is limited. Now, here is where they come in, as this is part of their objective to promote the control of internet usage by these multimedia devices using digital literacy as a tool to promote this cause. The currency or token in view here is the bandz token. The bandz token will be used as a means of exchanging bandwidths between individual intranets. With bandz, the internet is meant to be a marketable asset.
Bandz has been able to sit down and examine the pitfalls in the current user internet control and usage and they have been able to proffer solutions to the following problems:

“The high price of domestic internet services can be reduced by decentralization,
the high price of roaming mobile services can be reduced by decentralization,
the high price of premium security services can be reduced by decentralization,
the technical barriers of using security services can be eliminated,
internet can be made accessible to mobile devices in countries with low infrastructure.”

Now in solving this problem, “Bandz will turn each individual user into their own intranet (private network). As such they will have the means to access the global extranet by allowing other intranets (single users or organizations) to connect and access services from them such as bandwidth sales. This solution will be available to users worldwide so long as they have mobile devices”.

Industries such as ISP, VPN, and Cryptocurrency exchange markets will have to employ this great initiative from Bandz so as to maximize resources and eliminate unnecessary roaming costs and internet expenses that is accumulated annually and with this a larger number of customers will be served. It will help improve network connectivity, remove the risk of malware attacks due to backdoor internet usage associated with VPN, and improve currency exchange by making available more crypto-to-fiat options in exchanges worldwide.

Bandz have been able to carve a niche out for themselves thereby showcasing a difference from the competition. “Other protocols are focusing on strictly sharing data, or strictly providing VPN services. We are thinking about a completely different picture altogether. Bandz wants to turn individual users into their own private networks so that all sort of internet services which would be used in private corporate networks can be accessible to all the members of the network via individuals of the network without compromising their security. We are building a global extranet.
We are doing our research out of the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon. It is the 6th most innovative university in the world as measured by patents (Reuters) and the premier university in the world most internet connected country: South Korea.”

BENEFITS OF A DECENTRALIZED INTERNET
The benefits of a decentralized network are quite handy and they include the following:

1. No need for users to depend on central authority such as a single company, government. They don’t have to be in control of our money and assets anymore not when we can control these ourselves.
2. The single point of failure that occurs when your bank website is down and when gmail goes down too, and scenarios involving other occurrence similar to what is mentioned above can be minimized and eliminated with a decentralized network system.’
3. The government would not have the power to shut down any citizen’s social media platform nor account when it comes to a decentralized network. Most times they shut down user’s access to social media platforms so as to monitor and ascertain the reports of what is going on internally and this is easily done by stopping traffic going to a social media central server. But when it comes to a decentralized network, they find it hard to control because it a peer-to-peer network and individuals control their access to this network.
4. Most decentralized networks are most likely open source development platforms. With this anyone can build their own preferred tools, products and services within a decentralized network. This cannot be achieved with a centralized network.
5. Since in a decentralized network, users have authority and control, they have received economic stake in the network which becomes more valuable as the network increases.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM EXCHANGING BANDWIDTH?
In simple terms, anybody and everyone that has ever made use of the internet and is still making use of the internet is very much going to benefit from this internet decentralization and bandwidth exchange and control. The internet is the modern day information hub and more than half of the world’s population has internet access. So basically, this population get to benefit from bandwidth exchange and control.

The Bandz initiative will cater for the internet needs of basically everyone. It aims to serve everyone and make internet usage very easy and accessible to all including those with low infrastructure. Now those with low infrastructure will also have access to internet usage because Bandz aims to make bandwidth an accessible commodity controlled by various individuals and create a market place for everyone to be able to exchange bandwidths easily. Bandz will employ the use of mesh network to make sure each and every person is connected and have access to the internet no matter where you are.

ADVANTAGES OF MESH NETWORKS
Mesh networks basically eliminates network congestion and each individual device, switch, bridges, and other infrastructure devices is connected to nodes where they are able to route data efficiently. Using mesh network helps to create a wide array of access and connection and also improves surfing. Another advantage of a mesh network is that it provides network and data security and privacy.

HOW TO GET RID OF NEEDLESS ROAMING
Bandz can control and get rid of needless roaming charges and this can be done by giving control to individual users and personnel such that they have the ability to control the amount of charges they incur. This does not reduce the quality of service that will be provided by the Bandz network as promised by them, it will only get better.
