Crypto Currency and Steemit from a Newb's Perspective

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Do you remember what it was like when you first learned about cryptocurrency? A bit confusing maybe? In my opinion, there isn't really a "first time" for anyone learning about cryptocurrency. It's not a one-time learning type of thing. I don't consider myself to be technologically inclined. I can't hack, I don't play video games (not to say I haven't tried to get into it), I don't understand much about computers and technology/how they work. I just know that I turn my computer, phone, or tablet on and I magically get to use the internet and social media sites. I think it's interesting, but for some reason I feel like it's not something I could ever understand fully. You know how there are some people who seem to know everything there is to know about computers, or formatting, or gaming, or whatever else? Yeah, I could never be one of those people simply because I would doubt myself too much to be honest.

So, now that you have a basic understanding of me and my level of technology adeptness (or lack of) I will share to you my first impressions of cryptocurrency.

1.) Cool, seems like it could be easy money.
2.) Bitcoin is $3,500?!.... Per coin?!?!?!
3.) What the hell! Where was I in 2010 when it was at less than a penny?
4.) I was in 10th grade, that's where I was.
5.) OK, so there are other currencies that are still in infancy and seem to be really cheap. How do I invest in those?
6.) Wait, why are there so many? Pizza coin? .................................................................................I'm listening.
7.) It's sort of like the stock market then... except it's not.
8.) I wonder if it's too late to become a part of this. Won't know unless I try I guess.
9.) HOW THE HECK DO I INVEST MONEY INTO CRYPTO?! WHY IS IT SO HARD TO CONVERT DOLLARS TO ANYTHING (Still haven't figured this out by the way, so if anyone would like to help me on that it would be much appreciated by yours truly!)
10.) *Le sigh.*
11.) Steemit seems like a pretty gnarly site. And I do love blogging/writing.
12.) People blog about anything and everything on here -  in one central location, similar to reddit, less annoying that Facebook, and I can potentially make money.
13.) *Makes introduceyourself post* Cool! I made $4!

14.) *Puts 5 hours into extremely informative second post. Makes $0*

15.) So now here I am. My third post. In my first post I said I wanted to be in this for the long haul and that means not giving up when the times are hard! It will pay off, especially if this site takes off.

WELCOME TO STEEMIT :) Glad to see more people like you - here join the steemit! Being a steamboat is a great adventure! Here you can win money while blogging! At first it will not be easy, but it is not impossible. So just write it from your heart and everything will be fine. ! Applause! Wish you much luck! Greetings, @ilhampratama!

Hi @ilhampratama :) I'm just going to keep chugging along and posting more stuff and trying to get some hits off my content! I like having an outlet where people can read my stuff and hopefully like it. Plus, I can read other people's things and have power to upvote if I find that it's worth the time. Really cool concept!

I liked it! I can see that this is a recent account so I thought I'd send my regards. This post deserves an upvote and I hope to read more from you in the future!
As you only recently joined the steemit community it can be hard to recieve lots of steem power so my advice would be to give @MinnowPowerUp a go as you can earn up to 30% more steem power than just powering up! It's a subscription based daily upvote bot that draws its power from a delegation pool. I also recently made this post explaining my experience with it in more depth while earning over $1 per day in upvotes.
