What Were The Best Investment Assets For 2017 So Far? What Lies Ahead?

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Ethereum and Bitcoin for the first half of 2017 were the best major assets to hold. The cryptos have been on fire but have not been without earth shattering corrections. I would not expect these markets to calm down anytime soon, so they are not for the faint of heart, but what fun is that anyways with gains in the hundreds and thousandths of a percent!

The real question for me, is what lies ahead. Love the gains so far this year, but the past is past, and now we have to look for the second half of 2017. My bets will be to continue to hold these two cryptos along with Litecoin, Ripple and a little Dogecoin for fun. I may add others as well, but pretty comfortable with that position for now in this sector. I have also been looking into some cryptocurrency and blockchain stocks, with more I am researching I will write about in the future, but here are a few links to 3 micro penny stock ideas I wrote about previously.

I am also betting on gold, silver and especially the better mining stocks heading into the fall and winter season. I have penned this study for a little more in depth discussion on the metals in this link and think the gains when this sector finally lets loose, will be stunning. I think also, that time may be very close at hand.

Here is additional information on the exciting Bitcoin and Ethereum explosion of the past few months.

totally agree. diversity and balance.

Totally agree, especially in this very unpredictable world we live in today, I also think a little guts helps as well, lol!

That is what I need... guts!

haha, if you find out where the sell it at, let me know!!

I believe in physical Gold and Silver, as far crypto, I don't know much, I think Bitcoin is going to stay up there, I do believe in Ethereum wanted in at 70.00 and before I could make a move it hit 300.00!
Litecoin also has been holding well I think.
I thought about ripple but haven't made any moves yet.
Seems like silver is so cheap it's the best bet to buy an ounce of silver for under 20.00, but yeah crypto is here to stay.

I think silver coins are a must own, period. I think all the others will be good to have as well, and profitable, like the mining stocks, but if I had not cryptos whatsoever, this is what I think I would do. I would buy lets say 1 bitcoin, 10 Etheruem, and then put more in dollar value into ripple and litecoin This is if I was doing this today and had none, that way, everything is covered to some extent.

i would say to buy ripple and hodl, today was the first day of ripple being used in banks comercially, wont be cheap for long!

Agree, I wrote in the article that ripple is one of my holdings going forward to be positioned in.

i could see it hitting 100$ in the next 5-6 years easy if not more, they are working with some of the biggest financial institutions in the world and they are already saving banks money and transferring money at lightspeed

I would love to see that! I do believe it will be one of the cryptos that survive well into the future while others disappear because of that institutional interest you mention, so such projections, who knows what is possible when this sector really gets hot with a more broad based investment class that I believe is coming.

I couldn't agree with you more bro, I hope ripple skyrockets in value for the both of us!

a huge thumbs up!!

a huge cartoon ripple logo thumbs up right back at ya!

Hello there i also invest into gld and slv but i dont like gdxj (gold miner) because i think it is too volatile and i just dont have the gut to deal with super volatility. I have stepped away from stock as i saw more opportunity in crypto side. Say if you invest into steem power, you may expect to generate a decent return by simply voting yourself, there are so many opportunity nowaday to generate excess return compare to the stock.

Personally, I do not favor gld or slv. If you want to own gold and silver, buy gold and silver not paper proxies. As far as mining stocks, I have traded them for going on 40 years and yes, they have been tepid of late, but when they change, they will turn on a dime and take no prisoners. As you pointed out, they are extremely volatile, and not for everybody but hey, if you can deal with the cryptos, you should be able to handle the mining stocks as well.

Thanks. I normally use volatility to position sizing but stock like gdxj, the ADR could change so much as one day they dont really move and the next day, there are 10% move or something. This is the reason i like about crptos, even the volatility is high, the potential return is also high, you can get double return or more in crypto but it is so much harder in stock market given the current market level.

I agree, with that approach, it may be problematic to get correct signals. I am more of a long term positioner and do not 'trade' as much. One more thing, I would STAY away from the ADR's, South Africa is forcing miners to give away ownership, NOBODY will be investing there soon. Mining is tough without the government 'helping'.

I would buy silver and gold just incase of a financial collapse, that will be the only assets that will hold true value if shit hits the fan

Thanks and in my previous experience, probably you just want gold, i mean the actual physical gold and maybe US treasury as these are the true risk off asset. Silver is good too but part of the demand might be reduced as there is use of silver in industrial like cars and stuff like that.

I just started stacking silver and got a small stash going, I'll probably start collecting some bitcoin and litecoin too just for fun.

I hope it ends up being a lot of fun for you!!
