EMC2 is a member of the BTC family. It uses the proof of work (POW) algorithm and is also open source. EMC2 is made open source in order to eliminate income inequality, destroy corruption, break down barriers and build global communities.
The many functions of EMC2 are, being used as a medium of exchange, store of value and to be used as a unit of account whereby atomic swaps (exchange without the need of a third party) can be performed. On top of safeguarding funds, maintenance, and development of EMC2, the team is also committed to research for charitable missions throughout the world.
The team is aiming to build a long-lasting relationship with other non-profit and scientific organizations worldwide. Although EMC2 can be used for any transaction, it is primarily for scientific charitable and political fundraising. This organization is looking to support those scientific organizations for future groundbreaking science projects. In addition, EMC2 is also a mineable coin. Mining of EMC2 is divided into Epoch. Each Epoch mines 36000 blocks and targeted to last 25 days. Estimated all coins will be in circulation by 2064. After that, a hard fork is will occur creating a 2% inflation. Therefore as part of the design, there’s a 2.5% mining tax rate created. For every coin mined 2.5% will automatically be donated to the foundation.
