Miller's Reviews Presents the Cryptocurrency: Lunyr (LUN)
#H1 Miller's Reviews Presents the Cryptocurrency: Lunyr (LUN)
)
Hey guys, today's review might be covering an altcoin you may have already heard about since it's been out on the market since March of 2017. The reason I wanted to cover it was because they're planning on launching their Open Beta at the end of this month, so I'm expecting Lunyr to skyrocket over this year as the platform starts to gain use. As of this writing, Lunyr is showing on CoinMarketCap at $35.02 USD, with a total supply of 2,703,356 and a circulating supply of 2,297,853. Meaning they've almost hit their max.
I was recently turned onto this coin at the suggestion of the Cryptos R Us Youtube channel. One of the biggest reason I like it was because I think this company has a good future in the niche they are trying to fit into. Essentially what the company is trying to do is be a decentralized Wikipedia, with the added twist of their articles being peer reviewed and as accurate as possible.
Concept
As previously mentioned, their goal is to be a decentralized repository of information, similar to Wikipedia, except their focus is on promoting peer review and usage through coin contributions. In a sense, it's underlying idea is similar to Steem except not focused on the social aspect as much as the information aspect, so it should feel familiar to most of us. As a holder of an undergraduate degree in a liberal arts field myself, I know how difficult it is to find good "primary sources" or "scholarly sources" online that you can use as acceptable source material during research papers. As any of y'all may know who have ever had to write a paper in the US, Wikipedia is not considered a good source due to the fact that anybody at anytime can change or add inaccurate information which may not be caught for a long time. Lunyr is hoping that they can be the one to fill this spot.Team
The team so far seems pretty small, but some of them seem to come from some pretty good backgrounds. The founder Arnold Pham has a history of "cofounding" other companies, which at face value might seem sketchy, but from what I could dig up none of them seem to have been a scam or anything else, but neither has any of them panned out yet to be anything huge, so I'll keep my eye on it. His supporting cast is pretty solid though, with Cofounder Andrew Tran coming from an Oracle background, and their CTO Christopher Smith coming from a long background of development experience in the education space, which almost makes me think he might be the real driving force behind some of this. To finish rounding up the team they brought on some big advisors with years of experience of the space, which collectively hold a PhD, JD, and at least 1 software patent. You can read up on them yourselves hereWhitepaper
The Whitepaper can be found here. It is throughly a well thought out document, which outlines their vision pretty well as well as potential funding/advertising sources which can also add value to this company if it takes off. It's written in language pretty much everybody can understand, and it's a quick read at only 21 pages, complete with vidual aids. If you have the time I recommend you peruse it at your leisure, because I recommend the Platform Design section to fully understand what theya re trying to accomplish.Roadmap/Product
Their roadmap can be found in their whitepaper, which I linked above. Their Roadmap takes them through 2018 where they expect to have the Lunyr API up and running by the end of this year. This is a agressive timeline, but so far they've hit all of their milestone/deliverable marks and as previously mentioned are set to go Open Beta at the end of this month. You can sign-up now to try it out yourself. It's always a good sign when a coin has a physical product to show their worth.Final Thoughts
Their product is a pretty straightforward product with a lot of promise. It has some good supporting cast behind it, and a viable product you can try yourself already. Combine that with the aggressive timeline taking them to the end of this year and Lunyr is poised to potentially go big this year. If they can roll out advertising revenue to support their coin's worth, as they intend then I think this could be a viable platform for experts to go to to get paid to publish. If this takes off and becomes the de facto publish the site for post-graduate studies students, or even a good place for every High School/College kid who needs a scholarly site to access to write their assignments without having to physically go to a library, then this site might make a few coin holders pretty rich. Especially since the total supply isn't extravagant. There will always need a market for sites like this, and if it's decentralized (i.e. not censored) and accurate all the better.
Too Long Didn't Read (TLDR) version: Lunyr is poised to go big this year if they stick to their timeline. The concept is novel and good, and their coins are limited but can be found on most big exchanges. I think now is a good time to grab some of these coins while you still can at a reasonable price.
