For those who might be entirely new to Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, this is to help you get started with all of the basics for signing up with Coinbase and getting your account secured.

There are many people out there who are afraid to get started due to fears of what might be involved. CryptoFOMU helps conquer the Fear Of Messing Up!

Check out our video below and/or the step-by-step to see how easy it is to get started in this exciting new world of cryptocurrency!

What You Need when you sign up:

  • A mobile phone and/or laptop/computer
  • Google Authenticator App
  • Google/Gmail account
  • ID for verification
  • savings/checking account or debit/credit card

Here are the simple steps to take to get started with Coinbase, Bitcoin, and crypto:

  1. Download and Install the Google Authenticator app for your mobile phone. It's available at iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store, depending on your device.

  2. Set up the app with your Google/Gmail account. If you don't have an account, create one for free and then make sure the app is synced with it. The app will help guide you through the process.

NOTE: The Authenticator app is highly recommended. This app will help to provide "2FA" (2 factor authentication) on your Coinbase and other crypto exchange accounts. It's a great Extra layer of protection and security for your accounts when you log in.

  1. Sign up for a FREE Coinbase account at Coinbase(dot)com website. You'll need to supply your name, a valid email, password, and check off that you're not a robot, and that you're older than 18.

  2. Verify your account through the various steps:

  • Email verification
  • Set up 2FA (with the Google Authenticator app)
  • I.D. verification (driver's license/passport)
  • Add a bank account or debit/credit card.

(Note: It's recommended that you use a bank account in order to be able to send or received USD funds. That way if you ever go to "cash out" some of your Bitcoin or ETH, etc, you'll have a bank account connected. It's not mandatory, but eventually, you may want a bank account to receive funds to.)

Once you've done all of the above, you'll be ready to get started with buying Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and other cryptocurrencies!
