Ledger wallet users unable to access Bitcoin Cash [BCH] accounts for over 24 hours
According to reports, Ledger wallet users are facing difficulties accessing Bitcoin Cash [BCH] on their device. The users are unable to access their wallet, see the coins, and make transactions with BCH.
The Reddit post had a number of comments where the users said that they were ‘freaking out’ about not being able to access their Ledger wallets.
Melissa Joan, a Twitter user said:
“It is not a small issue and has caused so much inconvenience. I was shocked to see no coins in my wallet! I hope the bugs are fixed soon and all our money is safe.”
A status report issued by Ledger stated that:
“The new version of Bitcoin-ABC (Bitcoin Cash node) breaks compatibility with our parser — As a result balances shown on the Ledger Wallet are incorrect — Our engineering team is currently working on a fix.”
Eric Larchevêque, the CEO of Ledger commented:
“All the infrastructure engineering team is working on fixing the outage since we have been aware a day ago. The issue is complex and we are taking this very seriously. Our CTO is not in charge of the infrastructure and is therefore not following this specific question closely….. We are now in the process of reindexing all our BCH nodes.”
The CEO of ledger also said that the funds would stay secured and in case of an emergency, the users can use Electron Cash. However, a ledger user said, “the proposed solution of Electron Cash is buggy, slow and crashes every time I start up my ledger.”
With several users complaining about the same problem, they were assured that the issue would be fixed in a few hours. But they were soon informed that it would take longer than expected and would be updated on a more precise ETA.
Another disappointed Twitter user said:
“I would’ve hoped for more professionalism from Ledger, but it seems like they treat Bitcoin Cash as a minority token with a very low priority.”
Additionally, the users have been frustrated and disappointed with how long they had been waiting for the problem to be fixed. Some frustrated users also suggested Ledger to simply downgrade Bitcoin-ABC, if they were unable to fix the issue.
