How is this different than Curecoin?
Curecoin is a decentralized and open-source cryptocurrency built on the Folding@Home project managed by Stanford University.
There are also other alt coins for scientific research. Here is a good rundown:

they are both the same, when I went to the foldingcoin site there was also curecoin there. Perhaps they got a larger volume of volunteers and split into two currencys.
Also, thanks for the info! I love projects like these, and I am glad to hear that a multitude of them exist.
