You may be victim of cryptojacking!

WHAT IS CRYPTOJACKING?
It’s a new trick used to mine cryptocurrencies on your computer using your CPU resources in the background without your knowledge.
Several video streaming sites and the popular file sharing network The Pirate Bay have allegedly been “cryptojacking” their users.

HOW CRYPTOJACKING TAKES PLACE?
Cryptojacking takes place using simple java script on your web browser, when you load the malicious website on your computer.
Whenever you visit the these malicious websites, java script automatically runs in the background and executes mining code on your computer without the need of installing any malware.

HOW TO IDENTIFY CRYPTOJACKING?
Identifying cryptojacking is not that easy.

But the following symptoms may help you recognize cryptojacking.

1.The device battery drains very quickly.
2.CPU fan speed increases.
3.Increase in CPU usage which can be seen in task manager (in windows).

HOW TO PREVENT CRYPTOJACKING?

1. Disable java script on your web browser

2. Use browser extension like
   • No Coin (Chrome, Firefox, Opera)
   • minerBlock (Chrome, Firefox, Opera)
   • Anti Miner (Chrome)
   • Coin-Hive Blocker (Chrome)

WHY DO WEBSITES GO FOR CRYPTOJACKING?

The websites we access are free and they depend on advertisement for revenue which is not a sustainable model.The website pool CPU power of hundreds and thousands of computers and mine cryptocurrency like monero and bitcoin. Therefore websites take huge traffic to their advantage to earn profits by using cryptojacking.
