Dragonchain (DRGN) describes itself as a business ready blockchain platform and ecosystem that is simple, flexible, and secure. The company is aiming to help businesses transition on to the blockchain in an easy, fast, and safe fashion. Dragonchain is often recognized as a Disney company, however, the company is currently independent from Disney. The company originally started at Disney's Seattle office in 2015 as the Disney private blockchain platform. The platform was later released as an open source software in October 2016, and then the Dragonchain non-profit corporation was created in January 2017 to maintain ownership and responsibility of the open source code. Currently, the platform is private from Disney, although many of the team members previously worked at Disney.

What does Dragonchain do? Dragonchain has created an incubator where startup companies can apply to be a part of their platform (currently over 400 applicants). The Dragonchain team will help these companies (that are accepted) in providing the technical expertise (programming, coding, smart contracts) as well as marketing to the transition on the blockchain. The Dragonchain architecture also aims to provide a high level of security while allowing business to keep some of their prioritized data private on the blockchain. The platform is working to solve scalability issues by implementing a serverless deployment through initially launching on Amazon web services. Dragonchain will reward holders through their "Dragon Slumber Score" which is essentially a loyalty rewards program. The longer you hold your DRGNs without moving them around, the higher your slumber score will be over time. This will ultimately allow you to qualify for greater discounts on tokens from future ICOs launched on the platform. Additionally, if you are based in the US and hold DRGN in an ETH/ERC20 wallet, you will have the opportunity to participate in the ICOs pending a KYC approval process.

Some of the upcoming projects to be launched on the platform include:

1. Givewithnothing - Aiming to increase transparency and accountability of charitable giving.
2. Iagon - Envisioning on creating a global supercomputer, powered by artificial intelligence and blockchain technology.
3. BioCrypt Technologies - Transforming the idea of digital wallets and and transactional security.
4. Metropolis - Creating a tokenized blockchain employment marketplace.

Dragonchain is an ERC20 token and in early January 2018, reached an all time high of $5.18 USD/DRGN. As of writing this, the price is around $1.53 USD/DRGN.
