Cryptocurrency followers are often on the lookout for news on a country's stance in cryptocurrency -- will they allow it? what about ICOS?

Russia is a name that's come up quite often regarding this.

Initially, Russia's Minister of Finance had seen the idea of virtual / cryptocurrency in a very good light, it almost seemed like it was just steps away from being approved by authorities. https://cointelegraph.com/news/russian-ministry-of-finance-proposes-inclusion-of-cryptocurrency-in-the-governments-financial-literacy-strategy And this was just days after China and Korea announcing they would be banning ICOs.

Then a week later, Putin publicly commented about the risks in cryptocurrency, and called for a complete ban of cryptocurrency in Russia.

So now, not much more than a week later, Russia's sudden interest in cryptocurrency seems to have sparked back to life again.

This time in the form of an un-mineable, and authority managed / controlled currency.

It makes one think if the sudden climb in Bitcoin prices might have anything to do with this sudden change of heart.
