Just for fun I made a new currency with Waves tonight. Introducing BernieWouldveWon Coin. You're welcome, world.
Once I had Waves client installed and funded with a few Waves, it took me all of three minutes to make a brand new currency.
Introducing the BernieWouldveWon Coin.
In the past, people would buy coins imprinted with historical events to remind them of what happened or maybe what could have been. The BernieWouldveWon coin is a reminder of that fateful convention season in 2016.
It is also the maximum amount of letters (16) that Waves would let me name my coin.
There is no abbreviation of BernieWouldveWon Coin and that is on purpose. Just uttering this coin's name is a provocative but ultimately unassailable political statement. What's more, it's not at all annoying to everyone around you.
So what do you do with these things?
Well, what does anyone do with commemorative coins? You pawn them off on friends and relatives of course!
Ideas
- Send it to fellow Berners as a sign of support and empathy.
- Send it to Hillary and Trump supporters and watch them get all riled up.
- Send it to your grandchild on their birthday and then force them to listen to your "Back in 2016" speech for the hundredth time.
All in all, the project cost me one whole Waves, or about $12.50. Though, to be honest, I bought these Waves at $3.23 so it's cheaper for me. #HODL-Life
To get started you just install the Waves client which is actually a Chrome browser app.
It doesn't add an icon to your browser bar, and that makes it not-user-friendly so far as I'm concerned. Each time I want to open the app I have to open my extensions folder and click several times after that.
EDIT: We have found the "Apps" Icon on the left side of the screen. One click on Apps and then one click on Waves. Waves client is confirmed user friendly.
Once in the Waves client, you load in your Waves like you would any other wallet. I transferred mine directly from Bittrex. Then it's the fun part. If you have a whole Waves to spend, it's time to create your own new coin.
First click on the icon that reads "Token Creation Lab" on hover.
At this screen you'll set all your settings for the coin. Fill in the info and click to make your new coin.
Bam! Your coin is already in your Portfolio screen.
My wife was a true Bernie fan and even bought his book, so I figured she deserved the first distribution of BernieWouldveWon Coin. That is why I sent her a million BernieWouldveWon. She eagerly signed up for her own account and sent me her Waves wallet address over Facebook.
I plugged that into the software and got this:
Apparently the minimum transaction fee to send any amount of BernieWouldveWon (at least 1-1 million) was 0.001 Waves or the equivalent of $0.01 or $0.0125 to be exact. Not much but it does require all senders to possess Waves, which is unfortunate to the user but fortunate to me as a Hodler.
0.001 Waves was the absolute minimum fee, but the BernieWouldveWon arrived in exactly ten seconds. Not too shabby speed on that coin! Bittrex here we come.
Anyway, hope you all enjoy embracing your creative side and utilizing these coin creation mechanisms. I plan to try Steemit's new thing, Bitshares, Nem, Ethereum and others. When presented with a lot of options, I want to try them all and then decide.
If you want your very own BernieWouldveWon, just open up the Waves DEX and instead of searching for BernieWouldveWon, you need to search by the coin identifier "8KkgGB2TcCi1ZraLoXaDGKTpPkY9VvXkdkbL45EFbw8c". I've listed it for sale paired with Waves or BTC - whatever you prefer.
The total circulation is capped and pre-mined. As the description states:
This coin is a commemorative coin to remind us that Bernie Sanders would have won the 2016 Presidential election. There are 157,596,000 minted coins, which is the exact number of registered voters in the November 2016 election. Each coin represents a potential vote that Bernie, the infinitely better candidate, might and probably would have won.
I took the number of registered voters directly from the Census.gov website.
This coin is NOT DIVISIBLE. No fractions here. Just whole, real votes that probably would have been cast for Bernie Sanders.
Thanks for reading! Have a great day, and always remember that Bernie Would Have Won!
When is the ICO?😂
YES. An ICO is a great idea. :D
