[Cryptocurrency] Wirex Multi-Currency Crypto Accounts Launched
Recently, Wirex announced that they have relaunched their multi-currency accounts to Europe. They previously offered Prepaid Debit Cards linked to Bitcoin wallets, but after the card supplier mandated that they would no longer be doing business with Cryptocurrency businesses, they were forced to go back to the drawing board. Their new accounts offer speedy exchanges between Bitcoin and fiat currencies, a fully-fledged current account and soon contactless debit cards.
They are technically the only provider in Europe to allow spending in cash, converted from cryptocurrencies. This really is a technicality though, as Revolut (another popular multi-currency account provider) does have Cryptocurrency exchange capabilities, although it isn't baked into the account in the same way.
These new fully integrated accounts offer the same traditional banking services, but with Bitcoin incorporated into the mix as well. Currently, you can only order a Virtual card if you have received the upgrade notification, with accounts being upgraded constantly, with plans to deliver physical cards shortly.
At the moment, this is only open to UK customers, with Europe and then South-East Asia and Japan coming a little while after that. What you do get however, is in account Bitcoin exchanging, GBP e-money accounts with a unique sort-code and account number, immediate currency conversion (between GBP, EUR, USD and BTC) and free and instant Bitcoin transfers between Wirex users. You will also be able to get a free contactless debit card complete with 3D secure support, in both physical and virtual formats.
