The Nightmare of Cryptocurrency? The Bitcoin Platinum Incident
Bitcoin Falling: Snapshot for Bitcoin Platinum
Okay.
This is my first post on Steemit.
I'm Jeulpen, and kinda new to coin society.
Today, I want to talk about what happened last weekend.
What happened during the weekend?
Actually, it did not happen even though it was supposed to happen.
That is the snapshot incident of Bitcoin Platinum.
I personally participated in Bitcoin Dia snapshot and am waiting for the coin activated in Upbit site.
Bitcoin Platinum was what I decided not to participate in and I think my decision was not bad.
Since the first Bitcoin Hardfork occured, there had been some baby Bitcoins such as Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold.
At first, it did not sound bad at all because it comes to me like a small reward for having Bitcoins.
However, Some thoughts come to my mind suddenly that WHAT IF the HF process is unprepared as the developers planned? WHAT IF there is no developer at all since the beginning of the process? and WHAT IF the announcements are not based on the fact and only the shade of their dream plans?
As the Bitcoin Platinum Snapshot went postponed again(it was postponed before already) the price of the Bitcoin itself and all the altcoins danced harshly.
Also, there has been some suspects that the Bitcoin Platinum has not been developed by decent developers, even rumors of some high school kids are related.
Okay. I do not know what the truth is for now.
However, Let's not make any conclusions too fast.
I believe some of you had already suspected long before the last weekend incident that the awash hardforks of Bitcoin can be risky for its origianl purpose, which is decentralization of currency.
As at this time, the twitter account for Bitcoin Platinum team has made several announcements about the postponement and the rumors about high school kids.
The following is screenshots of its official twitter account and rough translation of the Korean messages.
Bottom -> Up
"We are going to make a public announcement in various languages at 6pm to clear the scam rumors about Bitcoin Platinum Project."
"Before the announcement, I want to make it clear that most screenshots you see on the internet sites are fake. We had never used Korean language for any announcements except some answers to questions or translation of the Website."
"Also, it is true that some high school student-developers joined our team, but the number is small. Bitcoin Platinum project has been mainly operated by $10,000 amount of Fund. We use the fund to maintain Servers and other maintanence fees."
"For more about our project, Please check our Github and Website. Once again, our team has never mentioned about this project or any individual's privacy on twitter or other community sites in Korean language."
Now, people made their move and the team made its move.
What is your next move then?
Hope this helps you to decide your stance for Bitcoin Platinum, and even other baby Bitcoins in the future.
