1- Congressman Brad Sherman, has called for a blanket ban on cryptocurrency buying. But, One of the panelist One of the panelists, Norbert Michel, director for the Center for Data Analysis at the Heritage Foundation, pushed back against the idea that criminal use should define cryptocurrencies as a whole.
Michel told the subcommittee:
Yes it is true that criminals have used bitcoin, but it's also true that criminals have used airplanes, computers and automobiles. We shouldn't criminalize any of those instruments simply because criminals used them.
2 - Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange BITBOX, which is also a division of Japanese internet giant Line Corporation, is now up and running. Operations began on July 16, 2018, and services are available in roughly 15 different languages to traders of every country except Japan and the U.S. Investors can now access markets for up to 30 separate digital currencies including bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ether and litecoin.

4 - The director of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)'s fintech initiative cautioned against what he called "hasty regulatory pronouncements" during a Congressional hearing on Wednesday.
The remarks from Daniel Gorfine, director of LabCFTC, were directed toward members of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture which, as reported by CoinDesk, sought testimony on the issue of cryptocurrencies and digital assets. Alongside Gorfine were former JPMorgan blockchain lead Amber Baldet, former CFTC chair Gary Gensler and A16Z managing partner Scott Kupor.
5 - CFA Institute, whose grueling three-level program has helped train more than 150,000 financial professionals, is adding topics on cryptocurrencies and blockchain to its Level I and II curriculums for the first time next year. Material for the 2019 exams will be released in August, giving candidates their first opportunity to start logging a recommended 300 hours of study time.
