Ledger Adds Coins for First Tuesday Crypto Initiative

Ledger has added support for PoA, Icon, VeChain, WanChain, Ontology, Kowala, particl and RSK. The bundled rollout is part of an initiative called “First Tuesday Crypto,” in which Ledger will announce support for new coins and availability of third-party apps on the first Tuesday of each month.

ICON Announcements

ICON announced the rebranding of theloop, its main technology partner, to ICONLOOP, presumably for brand consistency. Additionally, ICON will be executing a $5 million buyback program for ICX. To be clear, it isn’t a token burn, just a repurchasing. Finally, ICON announced that over the coming months it will push to make its tech, like the wallet and SDK, open-source.

Cardano 1.3 Update

Cardano’s 1.3 update release is upcoming, providing memory and performance improvements, while work continues on the more significant 1.4 update. In addition, CEO Charles Hoskinson announced that he and Vitalik will publish a blog post debating and answering each other’s questions about the Ethereum Casper network, for which Hoskinson claims details have not been made clear.

Indian Government Possibly Creating Crypto, Regulations

The Indian government is reportedly working on releasing its own cryptocurrency and regulatory framework, further adding to the confusion and contradiction on the state of digital assets in the nation. Sources say the government is working with the Indian SEC and the Royal Bank of India, which is still involved in a Supreme Court case regarding its ban on fiat gateways, to produce a draft of regulations by the second week in September.

West Virginia to use Blockchain for Midterm Elections

West Virginia recently launched a pilot program to allow military personnel to vote on the blockchain. Following the pilot’s success, the state announced plans to roll out blockchain voting for military personnel in the upcoming U.S. midterm elections.

Congress Member Discloses Crypto Holdings

U.S. Representative Bob Goodlatte has officially disclosed cryptocurrency holdings. With tens of thousands in BTC, BCH, and ETH, the House Judiciary Committee chair is the first congressional member to publicly declare digital asset holdings.

Pump and Dump Stats

Pump and dump groups are alive and well, according to some statistics published by The Wall Street Journal: over the last 6 months, 175 schemes with 121 different coins have generated upwards of $825 million in trading activity. Pump and dumps are nothing new, but the numbers are always interesting to contemplate.

About congressman: When I had just read that section, I initially thought that the congressman has tens OF thousands of BTC, BCH, ETH... LOL
Now I see it is tens of thousands IN these cryptos... :D
Well, actually, maybe some of those congressmen can afford putting 80 million USD into 10,000 BTC :)
