It depends on what you mean by "works". I am just starting to learn in this field, but my understanding is an iOS device just doesn't have the computing power to effectively mine. It will work in the sense that I think there is software that will run on your iOS device but it won't work in the sense that it would really be profitable. In addition it would run the processor at 100% constantly. As a result it would have to be plugged in for long duration operation and would significantly stress the device as it heated up.
